Whoever recites (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) (Say: He, Allah, is One) and (Innā Anzalnāhu) (Surely We revealed it on the grand night) and Āyat al-Kursī (Allah! there is no god but He, the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist...) before the sun rises, his wealth will be protected from what he fears. And whoever recites (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) and (Innā Anzalnāhu) before the sun rises, he will not commit a sin that day — even if Iblīs strives hard.
And if one of you desires to fulfill a need, let him go early to seek it on Thursday, for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) said: O Allah, bless my nation in its early rising on Thursday. And let him recite upon leaving his home the verses from the end of Āl ʿImrān, and Āyat al-Kursī, and (Innā Anzalnāhu), and Umm al-Kitāb (In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds...), for in them is the fulfillment of needs for this world and the Hereafter.”

If Shayṭān whispers to any one of you, let him seek refuge with Allah, and say: “I believe in Allah and in His Messenger, sincerely devoting the religion to Him.”
If Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, clothes a believer with a new garment, then let him perform wuḍūʼ and pray two rakʿahs, reciting in them: Umm al-Kitāb (In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds...), Āyat al-Kursī (Allah! there is no god but He, the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist...), (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) (Say: He, Allah, is One), and (Innā Anzalnāhu fī Laylat al-Qadr) (Surely We revealed it on the grand night).
Then let him praise Allah who has covered his nakedness and beautified him among the people. Let him increase in saying: “Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh al-ʿAliyy al-ʿAẓīm” (There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great), for he will not disobey Allah while wearing it, and for every thread in it there is an angel who glorifies Allah on his behalf, seeks forgiveness for him, and has mercy on him.
And when one of you enters his house, let him greet his family, saying: “As-salāmu ʿalaykum.” And if he has no family, let him say: “As-salāmu ʿalaynā min rabbinā,” and let him recite (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) upon entering his home, for it repels poverty.
99-/12004 _15- Al-Shaykh in al-Tahdhīb, by his chain of transmission, from al-Ḥusayn ibn Saʿīd, ʿAlī ibn al-Nuʿmān said: and al-Ḥārith said: I heard him saying: (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) (Say: He, Allah, is One) is one third of the Qur’an, and (Qul yā ayyuhā al-kāfirūn) (Say: O unbelievers!) equals one fourth of it. And the Messenger of Allah used to combine the recitation of (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) in the Witr prayer so that he may combine the entire Qur’an within it.
99-/12005 _16- And it has been narrated that whoever recites in the first two rakʿahs of the night prayer (Ṣalāt al-Layl), in each rakʿah: al-Ḥamd once, and (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) (Say: He, Allah, is One) thirty times, then turns in salām — there will remain no sin between him and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, except that it is forgiven.
99-/12006 _17- And from him: by his chain of transmission, from al-Ḥusayn ibn Saʿīd, from Ṣafwān, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥajjāj, who said: I asked Abū ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him) about the recitation in the Witr prayer. He said: “There was a door between me and my father. When he would pray, he would recite (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) (Say: He, Allah, is One) in all three [rakʿahs] of the Witr, and when he finished reciting it, he would say: ‘Ka-dhālika Allāhu Rabbī’ (Such is Allah, my Lord) or ‘Ka-dhālika Allāhu Rabbī’ (So is Allah, my Lord).”
99-/12007 _18- And from him: by his chain of transmission, from al-Ḥusayn ibn Saʿīd, from al-Naḍr ibn Suwayd, from al-Ḥalabī, from al-Ḥārith ibn al-Mughīrah, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him), who said: “My father (peace be upon him) used to say: (Qul huwa Allāhu Aḥad) (Say: He, Allah, is One) equals one third of the Qur’an, and he used to love to gather it in the Witr prayer so that the whole Qur’an would be included in it.”

99-/12012 _23- Ibn Bābawayh said: Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā al-ʿAṭṭār narrated to us, who said: My father narrated to me, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsā, from Nūḥ ibn Shuʿayb al-Naysābūrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Dihqān, from ʿUrwah ibn Akhī Shuʿayb al-ʿAqarqūfī, from Shuʿayb, from Abī Baṣīr, who said:
I heard al-Ṣādiq Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad (peace be upon them both) narrating from his father, from his forefathers (peace be upon them), who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) said one day to his companions: “Which of you fasts all year long?” Salman (may Allah have mercy on him) said, “I do, O Messenger of Allah.” The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) said, “Which of you spends the night in prayer?” Salman said, “I do, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “And which of you completes the Qur’an every day?” Salman said, “I do, O Messenger of Allah.”
Some of the companions became upset and said, “O Messenger of Allah, Salman is a man from Persia and wants to boast over us — the people of Quraysh. You asked: ‘Who among you fasts all year?’ and he said, ‘I do,’ while he eats on most days. And you asked: ‘Who among you spends the night in prayer?’ and he said, ‘I do,’ though he sleeps most of the night. And you asked: ‘Who among you completes the Qur’an every day?’ and he said, ‘I do,’ though most of the time he is silent.”
The Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) said: “Stop, O so-and-so. Where are you in comparison to Luqmān the Wise? Ask him, for he will inform you.”

99-/2274 A man said to Salmān: “O Abā ʿAbdillāh, did you not claim that you fast all year round?” He replied, “Yes.” The man said, “But I see you eating most of the day!” He replied, “It is not as you think. I fast three days every month, and—as Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, said: Whoever brings a good deed, he shall have ten like it (Qur’ān 6:160)—and I join the month of Shaʿbān with the month of Ramaḍān, and that is considered fasting the whole year.”
The man said, “Did you not claim that you spend the night in prayer?” He replied, “Yes.” The man said, “Yet I see you sleeping most of the night!” He replied, “It is not as you think. Rather, I heard my beloved, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi), say: Whoever sleeps in a state of purification, it is as if he has spent the entire night in prayer. And I sleep in a state of purification.”
The man said, “Did you not claim that you complete the recitation of the Qur’ān every day?” He said, “Yes.” The man said, “But you are silent most days!” He replied, “It is not as you think. Rather, I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi) say to ʿAlī (ʿalayhis-salām): O Abā al-Ḥasan, your example in my nation is like that of (Say: He, Allah, is One [Qul huwa Allāhu aḥad]). Whoever recites it once, it is as if he has recited one third of the Qur’ān; whoever recites it twice, it is as if he has recited two-thirds of the Qur’ān; and whoever recites it three times, it is as if he has completed the Qur’ān. Whoever loves you with his tongue has perfected one-third of faith, and whoever loves you with his tongue and heart has perfected two-thirds of faith, and whoever loves you with his tongue, heart, and supports you with his hand has perfected faith completely. And by the One Who sent me with the truth, O ʿAlī, if the people of the earth loved you as the people of the heavens love you, Allāh would not punish anyone with the Fire. And I recite (Say: He, Allah, is One) three times every day.”
Then the man stood up, as if a stone had been thrust into the mouths of the people.
Qur’ān 6:160 — “Whoever brings a good deed, he shall have ten like it; and whoever brings an evil deed, he shall be recompensed only with the like of it; and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.” — M H Shakir
99-/12013 _24 Al-Ṭabrisī: Al-Fuḍayl ibn Yasār narrated: Abū Jaʿfar (ʿalayhis-salām) instructed me to recite: (Say: He, Allah, is One), and when I finished it, to say: "Such is Allāh, my Lord" three times.
And this has already been mentioned earlier in the merits of Sūrat al-Kāfirūn. [1]
99-/12014 _25 And from the path of the opponents (i.e., non-Shiʿa sources): What was narrated by the chief preacher of Khwārazm (Akhṭab Khuṭabā’ Khwārazm), through his chain of transmission, raising it to ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās, who said:
The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi) said: “O ʿAlī! Your example among the people is only like the example of (Say: He, Allah, is One) in the Qur’ān. Whoever recites it once, it is as if he has recited one-third of the Qur’ān; and whoever recites it twice, it is as if he has recited two-thirds of the Qur’ān; and whoever recites it three times is like the one who has recited the entire Qur’ān.
Likewise are you, O ʿAlī: whoever loves you with his heart has loved one-third of faith; and whoever loves you with his heart and tongue has loved two-thirds of faith; and whoever loves you with his heart, tongue, and hand has loved the entirety of faith.
By the One Who sent me as a Prophet with the truth, if the people of the earth were to love you as the people of the heavens love you, Allāh would not punish a single one of them with the Fire.”
99-/12015 _26 And among the special qualities of the Qur’ān (Khawāṣṣ al-Qur’ān): It is narrated from the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi) that he said:
“Whoever recites this sūrah [Qul huwa Allāhu aḥad] and listens attentively to it, Allāh will love him; and whoever Allāh loves, He will save. Reciting it over the graves of the dead carries great reward, and it is a protection from every affliction.”
99-/12016 _27 Al-Ṣādiq (ʿalayhis-salām) said:
“Whoever recites it [Qul huwa Allāhu aḥad] and dedicates its reward to the deceased, it will carry the reward of the entire Qur’ān. And whoever recites it over eye inflammation (ramad), Allāh will soothe and calm it by His power, the Exalted.”

99-/12017 _28 Al-Riḍā (ʿalayhis-salām), in his Ṣaḥīfah, said:
The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi) said: “Whoever passes by the graves and recites: (Say: He, Allah, is One) eleven times, then donates its reward to the dead, he will be given a reward equal to the number of the dead.”

99-/12018 _29 And from him (ʿalayhis-salām) in his Ṣaḥīfah:
From ʿAlī (ʿalayhis-salām), who said: Whenever the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi) led us in the prayer of travel (ṣalāt al-safar), he would recite in the first unit [rakʿah] al-Ḥamd [Sūrat al-Fātiḥah] and (Say: O disbelievers [Qul yā ayyuhā al-kāfirūn]); and in the second, al-Ḥamd and (Say: He, Allah, is One [Qul huwa Allāhu aḥad]).
Then he would say: “I have recited for you one-third of the Qur’ān and one-fourth of it.”
