S 56 Ayat 77 to 79
77. Most surely it is an honored Qur'an, 78. In a book that is protected, 79. None shall touch it save the purified ones.
99-/10439 Shaykh (al-Ṭūsī) in al-Tahdhīb, through his chain of transmission, from ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Faḍḍāl, from Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥakīm and Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Ṣabbāḥ — both from Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd, from Abū al-Ḥasan (peace be upon him), who said:
“Do not touch the Muṣḥaf without being in a state of purity, nor while in a state of major ritual impurity (junub), nor even touch its binding thread [1], and do not hang it (as decoration). Indeed, Allah says: ‘None shall touch it save the purified ones’ [Qur’an 56:79].”
[1] Do not even touch its thread (binding cord).
99-/10440 Al-Ṭabrisī: It is not permissible for one who is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub), a menstruating woman, or someone in minor impurity (muḥdith) to touch the Muṣḥaf. This is based on the statement of Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Bāqir (peace be upon them both) regarding the meaning of the verse: “None shall touch it save the purified ones” [Qur’an 56:79].
