عنوان دوم: در صفات و اخلاق و عبادات آن سرور است نه من حيث صفات الامامة، كه آن از حيز ادراك برتر است، پس مي‌گوئيم كه: يكي از آن صفات حميده صفت غيرت دين است، و عدم تحمل بار ذلت اراذل و اوباش، چنانكه مروي است كه ابن‌سعد عرض كرد بر آنجناب، كه نازل شود بر حكم پسر زياد و يزيد و از قتل خلاص شود، حضرت فرمودند: هرگز نخواهد شد كه من دست ذلت به شما دهم و مانند غلامان اقرار به گناه كنم، خدا و رسول و اهل ايمان به آن راضي نيستند. [190] .و هر كس بعد از آن جناب به اين مقام رسيد به نظر خود اقتدا به آن حضرت نمود.

Title Two: Concerning the qualities, character, and acts of worship of that noble master (a.s.), not insofar as the attributes of Imamate are concerned, for those are beyond the reach of comprehension.

Thus we say:

One of those noble qualities was his religious zeal (ghayrah) and his refusal to bear the humiliation imposed by the vile and ignoble.

It is narrated that Ibn Saʿd offered to him that he submit to the authority of Ibn Ziyad and Yazid and thereby save himself from being killed.

The Imam (a.s.) replied:

“Never shall it happen that I give you the hand of humiliation and submit like slaves by confessing guilt. Allah, His Messenger (s.a.w.a.), and the people of faith are not pleased with such a thing.” [190]

And whoever attained this station after him did so by following the example of that noble Imam (a.s.).
