The Virtue of Surah Al-Shams

99-/11655 _1- ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ:بِإِسْنَادِهِ،عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ،عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،قَالَ: «مَنْ أَكْثَرَ قِرَاءَةَ (وَ الشَّمْسِ)وَ(وَ اللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى)وَ(وَ الضُّحَى)وَ(أَ لَمْ نَشْرَحْ)فِي يَوْمٍ أَوْ لَيْلَةٍ،لَمْ يَبْقَ شَيْءٌ بِحَضْرَتِهِ إِلاَّ شَهِدَ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ،حَتَّى شَعْرُهُ وَ بَشَرُهُ وَ لَحْمُهُ وَ دَمُهُ وَ عُرُوقُهُ وَ عَصَبُهُ وَ عِظَامُهُ،وَ كُلُّ مَا أَقَلَّتْهُ الْأَرْضُ مَعَهُ،وَ يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى:قَبِلْتُ شَهَادَتَكُمْ لِعَبْدِي،وَ أَجَزْتُهَا [1]لَهُ،انْطَلِقُوا بِهِ إِلَى جِنَانِي حَتَّى يَتَخَيَّرَ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ مَا أَحَبَّ، فَأَعْطُوهُ[إِيَّاهَا]مِنْ غَيْرِ مَنٍّ،وَ لَكِنْ رَحْمَةً مِنِّي وَ فَضْلاً عَلَيْهِ،وَ هَنِيئاً لِعَبْدِي».

99-/11655 Ibn Babawayh: Through his chain from Mu'awiyah ibn 'Ammar, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him), who said:

"Whoever recites frequently (By the sun), (And the night when it draws a veil), (By the forenoon), and (Did We not expand) during the day or night, nothing in his presence shall remain but that it will bear witness for him on the Day of Resurrection — even his hair, skin, flesh, blood, veins, nerves, bones, and everything the earth carries along with him.

And the Lord, Blessed and Exalted, shall say: 'I accept your testimony for My servant, and I grant it to him. Take him to My gardens so that he may choose from them whatever he wishes. Grant it to him without any favor due from you, but rather as a mercy from Me and a bounty upon him. Congratulations to My servant.'"

99-/11656 _2- وَ مِنْ(خَوَاصِّ الْقُرْآنِ):رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)،أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ،فَكَأَنَّمَا تَصَدَّقَ عَلَى مَنْ طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ وَ الْقَمَرُ،وَ مَنْ كَانَ قَلِيلَ التَّوْفِيقِ فَلْيُدْمِنْ قِرَاءَتَهَا،فَيُوَفِّقُهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَيْنَمَا يَتَوَجَّهُ،وَ فِيهَا زِيَادَةُ حِفْظٍ وَ قَبُولٍ عِنْدَ جَمِيعِ النَّاسِ وَ رِفْعَةٍ».

99-/11656 And among the special merits of the Qur’an, it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said:

“Whoever recites this Surah, it is as though he has given charity to everyone upon whom the sun and the moon rise. And whoever has little success (in his affairs), let him make a habit of reciting it frequently, and Allah, the Exalted, will grant him success wherever he turns. And within it is an increase in memory, acceptance in the eyes of all people, and elevation (in rank).”

99-/11657 _3- وَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ): «مَنْ كَانَ قَلِيلَ التَّوْفِيقِ فَلْيُدْمِنْ قِرَاءَتَهَا،يُوَفِّقْهُ اللَّهُ أَيْنَمَا تَوَجَّهَ، وَ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ كَثِيرَةٌ،وَ حِفْظٌ وَ قَبُولٌ عِنْدَ جَمِيعِ النَّاسِ».

99-/11657 The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:

“Whoever has little success (in his affairs), let him make a habit of reciting it frequently; Allah will grant him success wherever he turns. And within it are many benefits, as well as enhanced memory and acceptance in the eyes of all people.”

99-/11658 _4- وَ قَالَ الصَّادِقُ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ): «يُسْتَحَبُّ لِمَنْ يَكُونُ قَلِيلَ الرِّزْقِ وَ التَّوْفِيقِ كَثِيرَ الْخُسْرَانِ وَ الْحَسَرَاتِ أَنْ يُدْمِنَ فِي قِرَاءَتِهَا،يُصِيبُ فِيهَا زِيَادَةً وَ تَوْفِيقاً،وَ مَنْ شَرِبَ مَاءَهَا أَسْكَنَ عَنْهُ الرَّجْفَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى».

99-/11658 Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:

“It is recommended for one who suffers from little sustenance and success, and is often afflicted with loss and regret, to frequently recite it. Through it, he will attain increase and success. And whoever drinks water upon which it has been recited, his trembling will be calmed by the permission of Allah, the Exalted.”
