Alif Lam Ra. (This is) a Book which We have revealed to you that you may bring forth men, by their Lord's permission, from darkness into light, to the way of the Mighty, the Praised One, Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth; and woe to the unbelievers on account of the severe chastisement.
5669-/1- ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said regarding His saying, In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Alif Lam Ra. A Book which We have revealed to you, O Muhammad, that you may bring people forth from darkness into light by the permission of their Lord, meaning from unbelief to faith, to the path of the Mighty, the Praised. And “the path” is the clear road, and [it is] the Imamate of the Imams (peace be upon them). Then he said: And His saying, “Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth; and woe to the unbelievers on account of the severe chastisement,” is muhkam (of established meaning).
And We did not send any messenger but with the language of his people, so that he might explain to them clearly; but Allah makes whom He pleases err and He guides whom He pleases and He is the Mighty, the Wise. [Qur’an 14:4, M. H. Shakir]
