The Virtue of Surah Al-Waqeah

99-/10365 _1- ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ،عَنْ أَبِيهِ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ،عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ،عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،عَنْ أَبِيهِ،عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ،عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)، قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةِ جُمُعَةٍ الْوَاقِعَةَ،أَحَبَّهُ اللَّهُ وَ أَحَبَّهُ إِلَى النَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ،وَ لَمْ يَرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا بُؤْساً أَبَداً وَ لاَ فَقْراً وَ لاَ فَاقَةً،وَ لاَ آفَةً مِنْ آفَاتِ الدُّنْيَا،وَ كَانَ مِنْ رُفَقَاءِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،وَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ) خَاصَّةً،لَمْ يَشْرَكْهُ فِيهَا أَحَدٌ».

99-/10365 Ibn Bābawayh narrated from his father, who said: Aḥmad ibn Idrīs narrated to me, who said: Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad narrated to me, who said: Muḥammad ibn Ḥassān narrated to me, from Ismāʿīl ibn Mihrān, from al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī, from his father, from Abī Baṣīr, from Abī ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him), who said:

"Whoever recites Surah Al-Wāqiʿah every Thursday night, Allah will love him and make him beloved to all people, and he will never see misery, poverty, need, or any affliction from the afflictions of the world. He will be among the companions of Amīr al-Muʾminīn (peace be upon him), and this Surah is specifically for Amīr al-Muʾminīn (peace be upon him); no one shares in it with him."

Reference of Surah Al-Wāqiʿah: “When the great event comes to pass.”

99-/10366 _2- وَ عَنْهُ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنِ يَحْيَى،عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ،عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ،[قَالَ]:قَالَ الصَّادِقُ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ): «مَنِ اشْتَاقَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَ إِلَى صِفَتِهَا،فَلْيَقْرَأِ الْوَاقِعَةَ،وَ مَنْ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى صِفَةِ النَّارِ،فَلْيَقْرَأْ سَجْدَةَ لُقْمَانَ».

99-/10366 And from him, who said: Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to me, who said: Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Ṣaffār narrated to me, who said: Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā narrated to me, from Aḥmad ibn Maʿrūf, from Muḥammad ibn Ḥamzah, who said: Al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) said:

"Whoever longs for Paradise and its description, let him recite Surah Al-Wāqiʿah; and whoever wishes to look upon the description of Hellfire, let him recite Surah Al-Sajdah (Surah of Luqmān)."

Reference of Surah Al-Wāqiʿah: “When the great event comes to pass.”

Reference of Surah Luqmān (Sajdah Luqmān refers to): “Alif Lam Mim. These are verses of the Book of Wisdom.”

99-/10367 _3- وَ عَنْهُ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ،عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ،عَنْ حَمَّادٍ،عَنْ عَمْرٍو،عَنْ زَيْدٍ الشَّحَّامِ،عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ الْوَاقِعَةَ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ،لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ وَجْهُهُ كَالْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ».

99-/10367 From him, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan narrated to me; he said: Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to me from al-Abbas, from Hammad, from Amr, from Zayd al-Shahham, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said: "Whoever recites Surah Al-Waqi‘ah every night before sleeping will meet Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, with his face shining like the full moon."

99-/10368 _4- وَ مِنْ(خَوَاصِّ الْقُرْآنِ):رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ لَمْ يُكْتَبْ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ،وَ إِنْ كُتِبَتْ وَ جُعِلَتْ فِي الْمَنْزِلِ نَمَا مِنَ الْخَيْرِ فِيهِ،وَ مَنْ أَدْمَنَ عَلَى قِرَاءَتِهَا زَالَ عَنْهُ الْفَقْرُ،وَ فِيهَا قَبُولٌ وَ زِيَادَةٌ

حِفْظٍ وَ تَوْفِيقٍ وَ سَعَةٍ فِي الْمَالِ».

99-/10368 And from (Khawas al-Qur'an): It is narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) that he said: "Whoever recites this Surah will not be recorded among the heedless; and if it is written and placed in a home, goodness will increase therein. Whoever consistently recites it, poverty will depart from him. In it lies acceptance, increased memorization, divine support, and expansion of wealth."

99-/10369 _5- وَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ): «مَنْ كَتَبَهَا وَ عَلَّقَهَا فِي مَنْزِلِهِ كَثُرَ الْخَيْرُ عَلَيْهِ،وَ مَنْ أَدْمَنَ قِرَاءَتَهَا زَالَ عَنْهُ الْفَقْرُ،وَ فِيهَا قَبُولٌ وَ زِيَادَةٌ وَ حِفْظٌ وَ تَوْفِيقٌ وَ سَعَةٌ فِي الْمَالِ».

99-/10369 The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Whoever writes it (Surah Al-Waqi‘ah) and hangs it in his home, goodness will increase for him. Whoever consistently recites it, poverty will depart from him. In it lies acceptance, increase, protection, divine support, and expansion of wealth."

99-/10370 _6- وَ قَالَ الصَّادِقُ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ): «إِنَّ فِيهَا مِنَ الْمَنَافِعِ مَا لاَ يُحْصَى،فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ إِذَا قُرِئَتْ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ،وَ إِذَا قُرِئَتْ عَلَى مَنْ قَرُبَ أَجَلُهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ سَهَّلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ خُرُوجَ رُوحِهِ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى».

99-/10370 Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: "It (Surah Al-Waqi‘ah) has countless benefits, among which is that if it is recited upon the deceased, Allah will forgive him. And if it is recited upon someone whose appointed time is near, at the moment of death, Allah will ease the departure of his soul by the permission of Allah, the Exalted."
