Al-Hijr Ayah 85

الحجر آية 85

The story of the people of Salih has already been mentioned earlier in Surah Hud [1].

قوله تعالى:

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوٰاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ [85]

Qur'an 15:85 — M. H. Shakir: And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them but with truth; and the hour is most surely coming; therefore forgive with a gracious forgiveness.

ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الطَّالَقَانِيُّ،قَالَ:أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ،عَنْ أَبِيهِ،قَالَ:قَالَ الرِّضَا(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ) فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ ،قَالَ:«الْعَفْوُ مِنْ غَيْرِ عِتَابٍ».

99-/5927 — Ibn Babawayh said: Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq al-Talaqani narrated to us, who said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Sa‘id al-Hamdani informed us, who said: ‘Ali b. al-Hasan b. Faddal narrated to us, from his father, who said: Al-Rida (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, “Therefore forgive with a gracious forgiveness,” said: “Pardon without reproach.”

قوله تعالى:

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ [87]

Qur'an 15:87 — M. H. Shakir: And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran.

الشَّيْخُ فِي(التَّهْذِيبِ):بِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ،عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ،عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ،عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ،عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ،قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)عَنِ السَّبْعِ الْمَثَانِي وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيمِ،هِيَ فَاتِحَةُ الْكِتَابِ؟قَالَ:«نَعَمْ».

قُلْتُ: بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ مِنَ السَّبْعِ؟قَالَ:«نَعَمْ،هِيَ أَفْضَلُهُنَّ».

99-/5928 — The Shaykh in (al-Tahdhib), with his chain, from Muhammad b. ‘Ali b. Mahbub, from al-‘Abbas, from Muhammad b. Abi ‘Umayr, from Abu Ayyub, from Muhammad b. Muslim, who said: I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) about the seven oft-repeated and the Mighty Quran: Is it the Opening of the Book (al-Fatiha)? He said: “Yes.” I said: Is “In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful” among the seven? He said: “Yes; it is the most excellent of them.”

ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الْمُفَسِّرُ الْمَعْرُوفُ بِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْجُرْجَانِيِّ(رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ)، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ،وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَيَّارٍ،عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا،عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ،عَنْ أَبِيهِ،مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،عَنْ أَبِيهِ الرِّضَا عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَى،عَنْ أَبِيهِ،عَنْ آبَائِهِ،عَنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ(عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلاَمُ)أَنَّهُ قَالَ: بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ آيَةٌ مِنْ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ،وَ هِيَ سَبْعُ آيَاتٍ تَمَامُهَا بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)يَقُولُ:إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى قَالَ لِي:يَا مُحَمَّدُ وَ لَقَدْ آتَيْنٰاكَ سَبْعاً مِنَ الْمَثٰانِي وَ الْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ فَأَفْرَدَ الاِمْتِنَانَ عَلَيَّ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ،وَ جَعَلَهَا بِإِزَاءِ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيمِ».

99-/5929 — Ibn Babawayh said: Muhammad b. al-Qasim, the exegete known as Abu al-Hasan al-Jurjani (may Allah be pleased with him), narrated to us; he said: Yusuf b. Muhammad b. Ziyad and ‘Ali b. Muhammad b. Sayyar narrated to me, from their fathers, from al-Hasan b. ‘Ali, from his father ‘Ali b. Muhammad, from his father Muhammad b. ‘Ali, from his father al-Rida ‘Ali b. Musa, from his father, from his forefathers, from the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon them), that he said: “Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim is an ayah of the Opening of the Book, and it is seven ayat, its completion is Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim. I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) say: ‘Indeed Allah, Exalted, said to me: O Muhammad, And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated and the grand Quran.’ Thus He singled out His favor upon me by the Opening of the Book and made it equivalent to the Mighty Quran.”
