[Qur’an 14:1-2] M. H. Shakir: Alif Lam Ra. (This is) a Book which We have revealed to you that you may bring forth men, by their Lord's permission from utter darkness into light— to the way of the Mighty, the Praised One, (Of) Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth; and woe to the unbelievers on account of the severe chastisement,
99-/5669 - ‘Alī b. Ibrāhīm said, regarding His saying: In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Alif Lām Rā. A Book We have revealed to you, O Muhammad, that you may bring people from darkness into light by their Lord’s permission—that is, from disbelief to faith—unto the path of the Mighty, the Praised. And “al-ṣirāt” is the clear path, and [it is] the Imamate of the Imams (peace be upon them). Then he said: And His saying: “(Of) Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth; and woe to the unbelievers on account of the severe chastisement,” is decisive (muḥkam).

[Qur’an 14:4] M. H. Shakir: And We did not send any apostle but with the language of his people, so that he might explain to them clearly; so Allah makes err whom He pleases and He guides whom He pleases, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
