Special Honors Granted to Matters Connected to Him (a.s.) from the Time of Pregnancy Until After the Day of Resurrection

There are special honors for things connected to that noble one (Imam Husain (a.s.)), from the time of his mother's pregnancy until after the Day of Resurrection, and they are several matters:

First: The honor of carrying him in the womb in relation to his mother, Lady Fatimah (a.s.). The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said to her:

“I see a light upon your forehead, and soon there will be born from you the Proof of Allah over His creation.” [419]

He would recite supplications and blow over her, or he would recite over water and sprinkle it upon her. [420]

His mother (a.s.) would say:

“In dark nights and in a dark room, I had no need of a lamp, and I would hear the sound of glorification and sanctification coming from him while he was in my womb, and in my sleep I would see two luminous persons supplicating for me.” [421]

Second: The special honor that occurred in congratulation of his birth, which consisted of five kinds of revelation.

One was sent to Riḍwān, the keeper of Paradise, commanding him to adorn Paradise and perfume it in honor of the master who had been born for Muhammad (s.a.w.a.).

Another was sent to the Ḥūr al-ʿAyn, commanding them to adorn themselves and visit one another in honor of that newborn child.

Another was sent to the angels, commanding them to stand in ranks and engage in glorification, sanctification, praise, exaltation, and magnification in honor of that newborn child.

Another was sent to Jibrāʾīl, commanding him:

“Go down to the earth to the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) with a thousand tribes, each tribe consisting of a thousand thousand angels, riding piebald horses, with canopies of pearls and rubies above them, and accompanied by spiritual beings carrying spears of light in their hands, and let them congratulate Muhammad (s.a.w.a.) upon this newborn child.” [422]

Reflect upon this manner of celebration and how greatly it contains various forms of honor.

Third: The special honor concerning the naming of that noble one (a.s.), for the command came to Jibrāʾīl that after congratulating the Prophet (s.a.w.a.), he should say to him:

“Name him Imam Husain (a.s.).” [423]

Thus, the naming of that noble one (a.s.) came from Allah, the Exalted. Allah mentioned him in His Book through various descriptions, and assigned for him special names in the heavens, as has been reported in the narrations.

Fourth: The honor of offering condolences concerning him. It was said that after informing the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) of his name, Jibrāʾīl was to offer condolences to him and say:

“His community will kill him.” [424]

Fifth: The honor of his midwife. Allah sent a special heavenly maiden, more beautiful than all the other heavenly maidens, along with a group of ḥūr, so that they would act as his midwives. [425]

Sixth: The honor of his cradle, through the blessing of which the repentance of the angel Fiṭrus was accepted. [426]

Seventh: The honor of rocking his cradle, for the angels and Mīkāʾīl were appointed for this task, and they would take pride in it.

Eighth: The honor of mentioning his sleep, for Jibrāʾīl was entrusted with it and would say:

“Indeed, in Paradise there is a river of milk.” [427]

Ninth: The honor of his nursing. He would drink milk from the tongue and thumb of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) [428], which was more noble than his mother's breast. In the ziyārah it is stated:

“You were nourished by the hand of mercy, you suckled from the breast of faith, and you were raised in the lap of Islam.” [429]

Tenth: The honor of his clothing. It was a special garment that Allah sent as a gift for him, and the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) clothed him with it and said:

“This is a garment whose fabric is woven from the delicate feathers of the wings of Jibrāʾīl (a.s.).” [430]

Eleventh: The honor of the grave of that master (a.s.), which all the Prophets, from Adam (a.s.) to the Seal of the Prophets (s.a.w.a.), visited before its occupant was buried therein. [431]

Twelfth: The honor of his tears, as is well known in the incident of the gazelle, which will be mentioned, Allah willing. [432]

Thirteenth: The honor of his blood. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) gathered it in a green bottle which an angel had brought down from heaven specifically for that purpose. [433]

Fourteenth: The honor of the tears shed for him. The angels collect them and deliver them to the keepers of Paradise, who then mix them with the Water of Life. [434]

Fifteenth: The honor of the face upon which tears flow for him. Such a face will not see humiliation or disgrace on the Day of Resurrection. [435]

Sixteenth: The honor of the gatherings of mourning for him and his other assemblies, as will be mentioned, Allah willing.

Seventeenth: The honor of his intercession. In addition to his intercession on the Day of Resurrection, he was made the intercessor of the angels on the very day of his birth, as is well known in the account of Fiṭrus and Dardāʾīl.

Eighteenth: The honor of the soil of his grave. From the grave itself up to twenty-five cubits, and indeed up to four farsakhs, it possesses varying virtues [436]. Allah, the Exalted, chose it as the burial place of that noble one (a.s.) from the day of the spreading of the earth (Dahw al-Ardh), as has been narrated in the traditions. [437]
