99-/1907 _4- From Ismā‘īl ibn Hammām, from Abū al-Hasan (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah: “marking” (musawwimīn). He said: “(It refers to) the turbans. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) put on a turban and let it hang down in front of him and behind him.”

99-/1908 _5- From Durays ibn ‘Abd al-Malik, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said: “The angels who supported Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) on the Day of Badr are on earth; they have not ascended, nor will they ascend, until they support the Master of this Affair. They are five thousand.”
Qur’an 3:128
You have no concern in the matter whether He turns to them mercifully or chastises them; surely they are unjust. (M. H. Shakir)
99-/1909 _1- Shaykh al-Mufīd in (al-Ikhtisās): from Muhammad ibn Khālid al-Tayālisī, and Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Abī al-Khattāb, from Muhammad ibn Sinān, from ‘Ammār ibn Marwān, from al-Munakhkhal ibn Jamīl, from Jābir ibn Yazīd, who said: I recited to Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him) this verse from the word of Allah: “You have no concern in the matter.”
He said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was keen that ‘Alī (peace be upon him) be the Wali al-Amr after him, and that is what Allah meant by ‘You have no concern in the matter.’ And how could he not have a share in the matter when it was delegated to him, for He said: ‘Whatever the Prophet makes lawful is lawful, and whatever the Prophet forbids is forbidden’?”
99-/1910 _2- Al-‘Ayyāshī: from Jābir al-Ju‘fī, who said: I recited before Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him) the saying of Allah: “You have no concern in the matter.”
He said: “Yes, by Allah, indeed he has a share in the matter, and a share, and a share; but not as you supposed. Rather, I will inform you: when Allah, Blessed and Exalted, commanded His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to make manifest the wilayah of ‘Alī (peace be upon him), he reflected on the enmity of his people towards him and his knowledge of them. And that is what Allah favored him with over them in all his qualities: he was the first to believe in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and in Him who sent him, the most helpful of people for Allah, the Exalted, and for His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), the most slaying of their enemies, the most intense in aversion to those who opposed them, and in his knowledge which none equaled, and in his merits which are beyond count in nobility.
So when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) reflected on his people’s enmity towards him for these qualities and their envy of him on account of them, he found it constricting. Then Allah, the Exalted, informed (him) that he had no say in this matter; rather, the decision in it belonged to Allah, to appoint ‘Alī (peace be upon him) as his legatee and the Wali al-Amr after him. This is what Allah meant. And how could he not have a share in the matter when Allah delegated to him that whatever he made lawful is lawful and whatever he forbade is forbidden—His saying: ‘And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it’?”)
99-/1911 _3- From Jābir, who said: I said to Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him): His saying to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), “You have no concern in the matter”—explain it to me. He said: So Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: “It is for something Allah said, and for something Allah intended. O Jābir, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was eager that ‘Alī (peace be upon him) should be over the people after him, and with Allah there was other than what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) desired.”
He said: I said to him: So what is the meaning of that? He said: “Yes. He meant by that Allah’s saying to His Messenger: ‘You have no concern in the matter, O Muhammad,’ with regard to ‘Alī (peace be upon him) and others. Did I not recite to you, O Muhammad, in what I sent down of My Book to you: Alif Lām Mīm. ‘Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, We believe, and not be tried?’—up to His saying: ‘most certainly (We) will know’—(He said:) so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) delegated the matter to Him.”
99-/1912 _4- From al-Jarmī, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), that he recited: “You have no concern in the matter—that He may turn to them (in mercy) or chastise them, for surely they are unjust.”
Qur’an 3:133
And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord; and a Garden, the extensiveness of which is as the heavens and the earth, it is prepared for those who guard (against evil). (M. H. Shakir)
