We know it.

99-/1610) From Abu Basir, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), he said: We are those firmly rooted in knowledge, so we know its interpretation.

(99-/1611) ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim, regarding His saying, As for those in whose hearts is perversity: that is, doubt.

Quran 3:8 (M. H. Shakir): Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright, and grant us from Thee mercy; surely Thou art the most liberal Giver.

(99-/1612) ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim, regarding His saying, Our Lord! Make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright: that is, do not let us doubt.

99-/1613) Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub: from Abu ‘Abdillah al-Ash‘ari, from some of our companions, raising (it), from Hisham ibn al-Hakam, who said: Abu al-Hasan Musa ibn Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said to me—and he mentioned the hadith until he said: O Hisham, indeed Allah has related about righteous people that they said: Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright, and grant us from Thee mercy; surely Thou art the most liberal Giver—when they knew that hearts deviate and return to their blindness and ruin. Truly, he does not fear Allah who does not comprehend from Allah; and whoever does not comprehend from Allah, his heart does not bind upon a firm knowledge which he considers and finds its reality within his heart. And none is like that except one whose word verifies his deed and whose private state accords with his public state, for Allah—exalted is His Name—did not indicate the hidden, inner aspect of the intellect except by an outward aspect of it and one that speaks on its behalf.

99-/1614) Al-‘Ayyashi: from Sama‘ah ibn Mihran, who said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: Make it frequent for you to say: Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright, and do not feel safe from deviation.

Quran 3:10-13 (M. H. Shakir):

3:10 Surely those who disbelieve, neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them aught against Allah, and these it is who are the fuel of the fire.

3:11 Like the wont of the people of Firon and those before them; they rejected Our communications, so Allah destroyed them on account of their faults; and Allah is severe in requiting (evil).

3:12 Say to those who disbelieve: You shall be vanquished, and driven together to hell; and evil is the resting-place.

3:13 Indeed there was a sign for you in the two hosts (which) met together; one party fighting in the way of Allah and the other unbelieving, whom they saw twice as many as themselves with the sight of the eye; and Allah strengthens with His aid whom He pleases; most surely there is a lesson in this for those who have sight.

(99-/1615) ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim, regarding His saying, And they are the fuel of the Fire: it means the firewood of the Fire. And he said, His saying, the Exalted:

Like the wont of the people of Pharaoh: that is, the deed/practice of the people of Pharaoh.

و

And he said: His, the Exalted’s, saying: Say to those who disbelieve: You shall be vanquished and driven together to hell, and evil is the resting place—it was sent down after Badr. When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) returned from Badr, he went to Banu Qaynuqa‘ while calling to them; and there was in it a market called the Market of the Nabateans. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) came to them and said: O assembly of Jews, you know what befell Quraysh, and they were more numerous, better armed, and more mounted than you; so enter into Islam. They said: O Muhammad, you suppose our war is like the war of your people; by Allah, if you meet us, you will meet men! Then Gabriel (peace be upon him) descended upon him and said: O Muhammad, Say to those who disbelieve: You shall be vanquished and driven together to hell, and evil is the resting-place; Indeed there was a sign for you in the two hosts that met: one party fighting in the way of Allah and the other unbelieving; they saw them to be twice their number with the sight of the eye—meaning, even if they had been like the Muslims; and Allah strengthens with His help whom He pleases—meaning the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) on the Day of Badr. Most surely in that is a lesson for those who have sight.

Quran 3:14 (M. H. Shakir): The love of desires, of women and sons and hoarded treasures of gold and silver and well-bred horses and cattle and tilth, is made to seem fair to men; this is the provision of the life of this world; and Allah is He with Whom is the good goal (of life).

99-/1616) Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub: from a number of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Abi ‘Abdillah al-Barqi, from al-Hasan ibn Abi Qatadah, from a man, from Jamil ibn Darraj, who said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: People have not enjoyed in this world and the Hereafter any pleasure more for them than the pleasure of women. And it is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: The love of desires, of women and sons ... to the end of the verse. Then he said: And indeed the people of Paradise do not enjoy anything in Paradise more delightful to them than intercourse—not food nor drink. Al-‘Ayyashi: from Jamil ibn Darraj, who said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: “People have not enjoyed...” and he mentioned the hadith exactly as it is. [1]

99-/1617) Abu ‘Ali al-Tabrisi: A qintar is the amount that fills a bull’s skin with gold. And this is narrated from Abu Ja‘far and Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon them).

(99-/1618) ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said: The qinṭars are bull hides filled with gold; and al-khayl al-musawwamah (well-marked horses) means those that graze.
