Zakat of the Body and Wealth on the Night and Day of Ashura

The Book of Zakāt and Charitable Giving

That noble Imam (a.s.) fulfilled the zakāt of the body and the zakāt of wealth, not merely the one-tenth or one-fortieth portion, but everything that he possessed. He gave away all that he had, even an old garment that held no monetary value. Moreover, on the night of ʿĀshūrāʾ, for the purpose of fuqqa ar-reqaab (freeing people from bondage), he gave several robes whose value amounted to one thousand dinars. [230]

The Chapter of Jihād

Although all of the Imams of Guidance (a.s.) fulfilled the duty of jihād, as stated in Ziyārat al-Jāmiʿah [231], Imam Husain (a.s.) possessed unique distinctions in jihād that no one other than him was charged with.
