Al-Kahf Ayah 28
Translation: I heard Abu Ja‘far Muhammad ibn ‘Ali (peace be upon them) say: “By Allah, a man from us, the People of the Household, will surely rule for three hundred years and will increase by nine.” I said to him: When will that be? He said: “After the death of the Qa’im (peace be upon him).” I said to him: And how long will the Qa’im (peace be upon him) remain in his world until he dies? He said: “Nineteen years from the day of his rising until the day of his death.”
Translation (Qur’an 18:28, M. H. Shakir): And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, desiring His goodwill, and let not your eyes pass from them, desiring the beauties of this world's life; and do not follow him whose heart We have made unmindful to Our remembrance, and he follows his low desires and his case is one in which due bounds are exceeded.
99-/6658 Translation: Al-‘Ayyashi, from Zurara and Humran, from Abu Ja‘far and Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon them), regarding His saying: “And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening,” he said: “What is meant by it is the prayer.”
/6659 Translation: ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim: This verse was revealed concerning Salman al-Farisi. He had a cloak in which was his food, and it was his bedding and his garment; it was a woolen cloak. ‘Uyaynah ibn Hisn entered upon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) while Salman was with him. ‘Uyaynah was offended by the smell of Salman’s cloak, for he had sweated in it, and that day was extremely hot, so he sweated into the cloak. He said: O Messenger of Allah, when we enter upon you, drive this man and his group away from you, and when we leave, then admit whomever you wish. So Allah revealed: “And do not obey him whose heart We have made unmindful to Our remembrance” — and he is ‘Uyaynah ibn Hisn ibn Hudhayfah ibn Badr al-Fazari.
Translation (Qur’an 18:29, M. H. Shakir): And say: The truth is from your Lord, so let him who please believe, and let him who please disbelieve; surely We have prepared for the unjust a fire, the curtains of which encompass them; and if they cry for water, they shall be given water like molten brass which will scald their faces; evil the drink and ill the resting-place.
