46. ﻗﺪاﺳﺖ ﻋﺪد ﭼﻬﻞ

از ﻣﺠﻤﻮع آﻧﭽﻪ ﮔﺬﺷﺖ، ﺑﻪ اﯾﻦ ﻧﺘﯿﺠﻪ ﻣﯽ رﺳﯿﻢ ﮐﻪ ﻋﺪد ﭼﻬﻞ وﯾﮋﮔﯽ دارد، رﯾﺸﻪ ي ﻗﺮآﻧﯽ دارد و در اﺣﺎدﯾﺚ ﻓﺮاوان در ﻣﻮرد ادﻋﯿﻪ و اذﮐﺎر ﺑﺮ آن ﺗﺄﮐﯿﺪ ﺷﺪه اﺳﺖ.

ﻣﺎ در ﺑﺮﺧﯽ از آﺛﺎر ﺧﻮد، ﻗﺪاﺳﺖ ﻋﺪد ﭼﻬﻞ را در ﺗﮑﻮﯾﻦ و ﺗﺸﺮﯾﻊ ﺑﺮ اﺳﺎس رواﯾﺎت ﻧﻘﻞ ﮐﺮده اﯾﻢ(5).

ﺑﺮ اﯾﻦ اﺳﺎس ﺷﺎﯾﺴﺘﻪ اﺳﺖ ﮐﻪ ﺧﺘﻢ زﯾﺎرت ﻋﺎﺷﻮرا ﺑﻪ ﻣﺪت ﭼﻬﻞ روز اﻧﺠﺎم ﺷﻮد ﮐﻪ ﺑﻪ اﺳﺘﺠﺎﺑﺖ ﻧﺰدﯾﮏ ﺗﺮ اﺳﺖ.

46.  The Sanctity of the Number Forty

From all that has been mentioned, we reach the conclusion that the number forty has a special significance. It has Qur’anic roots, and many hadiths emphasize its role with regard to supplications and litanies (adhkār).

In some of my own works, I have reported the sanctity of the number forty in both creation (takwīn) and legislation (tashrīʿ) on the basis of transmitted narrations.

On this basis, it is appropriate that the recitation of Ziyarat Ashura should be completed over forty days, as this is closer to acceptance (of one’s prayers).
