Visiting Him Causes the Forgiveness of Sins

Visiting Him Causes the Forgiveness of Sins

Third Benefit: The visitation (ziyārah) of that noble Imam purifies a person from sins in a special manner.

This purification has been described in nearly forty authentic narrations with the meaning that Allah forgives all of his past and future sins. [807]

Other narrations state that he becomes like the day on which he was born from his mother [808], or like a dirty garment that has been washed and completely cleansed. [809]

What is remarkable is that a narration states that this is achieved with the very first step. With each further step, he becomes more purified and sanctified until he reaches a level worthy of divine conversation.

At that point, Allah says to him:

“O My servant, ask and I shall grant you.” [810]

In another narration, after performing the prayer of ziyārah, an angel comes to him and says:

“The Seal of the Prophets sends his greetings to you and says:

‘Your previous sins have been forgiven, so begin your deeds anew.’”[811]
