al-Mustadrak (Surat al-Isrā’)
And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord, which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word. (Qur’an 17:28, M. H. Shakir)
99-/_1- (al-Manāqib 3:341): Ibn Shahr Āshūb, reporting from the book of al-Shīrāzī: When Fāṭimah (peace be upon her) described her condition and asked for a servant, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) wept and said: “O Fāṭimah, by Him Who sent me with the truth, in the mosque there are four hundred men who have neither food nor clothing. Were it not for one thing I fear, I would have given you what you asked. O Fāṭimah, I do not wish that your reward be transferred from you to the servant, and I fear that ʿAlī son of Abī Ṭālib will dispute with you on the Day of Resurrection before Allah, Mighty and Majestic, when he seeks his right from you.” Then he taught her the Prayer of Glorification (Ṣalāt al-Tasbīḥ). The Commander of the Faithful said: “You went intending to seek from the Messenger of Allah a matter of this world, so Allah granted us the reward of the Hereafter.” Abū Hurayrah said: When the Messenger of Allah left Fāṭimah, Allah revealed to His Messenger: “And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord, which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word”—meaning, from your kin and your daughter Fāṭimah—“to seek” meaning to request mercy from your Lord, that is, provision from your Lord which you hope for; “then speak to them a gentle word,” meaning a good word. When this verse was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) sent her a servant for assistance, and he named her Fiddah.
Say: Call on those whom you assert besides Him; so they shall not control the removal of distress from you nor shall they be able to change it. (Qur’an 17:56, M. H. Shakir)
