An-Nahl Ayah 30-37
Qur’an 16:27-29 (M. H. Shakir):
16:27 Then on the day of resurrection He will disgrace them and say: Where are My associates for whose sake you became hostile? Those who are given the knowledge will say: Surely disgrace and evil are this day upon the unbelievers.
16:28 Those whom the angels cause to die while they are unjust to their souls. Then would they offer submission: We did not do any evil. Yea! surely Allah knows what you did.
16:29 Therefore enter the gates of hell, to abide therein; so certainly evil is the abode of the proud.
99-/6012: From Muhammad ibn Muslim, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), he said regarding “So Allah came upon their building from the foundations”: “It was a house of treachery where they would gather whenever they intended evil.”

99-/6013 _1: ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said regarding the verse “Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them, and will say: Where are My partners for whose sake you used to oppose [the believers]? Those who were given knowledge will say: Surely disgrace today and evil are upon the unbelievers”: Those who were given knowledge are the Imams (peace be upon them); they will say to their enemies: Where are your partners and those whom you obeyed in the world? Then concerning them He also said: “Those whom the angels take while they are wronging themselves—so they offer submission,” meaning they submit to what has struck them of affliction; then they say: “We did not do any evil.” Allah refutes them, saying: “Yes! Surely Allah is Knowing of what you used to do. So enter the gates of Hell to abide therein; and evil indeed is the abode of the proud.”

Qur’an 16:30-37 (M. H. Shakir):
16:30 And it shall be said to those who guard (against evil): What is it that your Lord has revealed? They shall say: Good; for those who do good in this world is good; and certainly the abode of the hereafter is better and certainly most excellent is the abode of those who guard (against evil).
16:31 Gardens of perpetuity which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow; they shall have therein what they please; thus does Allah reward those who guard (against evil),
16:32 Those whom the angels cause to die in a good state, saying: Peace be on you: enter the garden for what you did.
16:33 They do not wait aught but that the angels should come to them or that the command of your Lord should come; thus did those before them; and Allah did them no injustice, but they were unjust to themselves.
16:34 So that the evils of what they did may afflict them, and that which they mocked at shall beset them.
16:35 And those who associated (others with Allah) say: If Allah had pleased, we would not have served aught but Him, (neither) we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden aught without (command from) Him; thus did those before them; is then aught (incumbent) on the messengers but a plain delivering (of the message)?
16:36 And certainly We raised in every nation an apostle, saying: Serve Allah and shun the Shaitan (Taghut); so there were some of them whom Allah guided and there were others against whom error became due; therefore travel in the land, then see what was the end of the rejecters.
16:37 If you desire for their guidance, yet surely Allah does not guide him who leads astray, and they shall have no helpers.

Adhere to the fear of Allah, for it gathers all good, and there is no good besides it; and through it one attains of good what cannot be attained without it, of the good of this world and the good of the Hereafter. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: ‘And it shall be said to those who guard (against evil): What is it that your Lord has revealed? They shall say: Good. /6016 _3: And ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said: Then He mentioned the believers, saying: “Those whom the angels take in a good state (tayyibin).” His saying “tayyibin” means: they are the believers whose births were pure in the world. Then he said regarding His saying: “Do they wait for aught but that the angels should come to them or that the command of your Lord should come”—[of punishment and death, and the rise of the Qa’im (peace be upon him)]—“thus did those before them; and Allah did not wrong them, but they were wronging themselves; and His saying: ‘So that the evils of what they did shall afflict them, and that which they mocked at shall beset them’”—[of the punishment in the Raj‘a (return)]. Then he said regarding His saying: “And those who associated (others with Allah) said: If Allah had willed, we would not have worshiped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything without Him. Thus did those before them. Is aught upon the messengers except a clear conveying?” [for it is decisive]. Then he said regarding His saying: “And indeed We sent in every nation a messenger: that you should worship Allah and avoid the Taghut,” meaning the idols; “so among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error became due. So travel in the land and see how was the end of the deniers”—that is, look into the reports of those who perished before.

99-/6018 _5: Al-‘Ayyashi: from Khattab ibn Maslamah, who said: Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: “Allah never sent any prophet except with our Wilayah and with disavowal of our enemies. And that is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in His Book: ‘And certainly We raised in every nation an apostle (saying): Serve Allah and shun the Taghut. So among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error became due’—because of their denial of the Family of Muhammad (blessings of Allah be upon them all). Then He said: ‘So travel in the land, then see how was the end of the deniers.’”
/6019 _6: And ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said regarding His saying: “If you are eager for their guidance”—it is an address to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family). “Surely Allah does not guide” means He does not reward; “him who leads astray” means the one whom He punishes.

99-/6020 _1: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub: with his chain from Sahl, from Muhammad, from his father, from Abu Basir, who said: I said to Abu ‘Abd Allah (peace be upon him) regarding His, Blessed and Exalted, saying: “And they swore by Allah with the strongest of their oaths that Allah will not raise up him who dies; Yea! a promise binding on Him in truth, but most people do not know.” He said to me: “O Abu Basir, what do you say about this verse?” I said: The polytheists claim and swear to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) that Allah will not raise the dead. He said: “Perdition be upon whoever says that [1]. Did the polytheists swear by Allah, or by al-Lat and al-‘Uzza?” I said: May I be ransomed for you, then show it to me. He said to me: “O Abu Basir, when our Qa’im rises, Allah will send to him a people from our Shi‘a, the pommels [2] of their swords upon their shoulders. That will reach a people from our Shi‘a who have not died, and they will say: So-and-so and so-and-so and so-and-so have been raised from their graves, and they are with the Qa’im. Then that will reach a people from our enemies, and they will say: O company of Shi‘a, how great liars you are! This is your state, and you speak lies in it! By Allah, these have not lived, nor will they live till the Day of Resurrection.” He said: So Allah related their statement, saying: “And they swore by Allah with the strongest of their oaths that Allah will not raise up him who dies.”

He said: “What do the people say about it?” He said: They say it was revealed about the unbelievers. He said: “The unbelievers would not swear by Allah. Rather, it was revealed about a people from the Umma of Muhammad (may Allah bless him and his family). It was said to them: You will return after death before the Resurrection; so they swore that they would not return.
