99-/4996: Ibn Bābawayh, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), said: “Whoever recites Sūrah Hūd every Friday, Allah, the Exalted, will raise him on the Day of Resurrection in the company of the prophets, and no sin that he committed will be recognized for him on the Day of Resurrection.”

99-/4997: Al-‘Ayyāshī, from Ibn Sinān, from Jābir, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), said: “Whoever recites Sūrah Hūd every Friday, Allah [1] will raise him in the company of the believers and the prophets, he will be taken to account with an easy reckoning, and no sin that he committed will be recognized for him on the Day of Resurrection.”

99-/4998: And from the book (Khawāṣṣ al-Qur’ān): It is narrated from the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) that he said: “Whoever recites this sūrah will be given a reward and recompense equal to the number of those who believed in Hūd and the prophets (peace be upon them) and those who disbelieved in them. And on the Day of Resurrection he will be in the rank of the martyrs, and he will be taken to account with an easy reckoning.”

99-/4999: And it is narrated from al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him): “Whoever writes this sūrah on gazelle parchment and carries it with him, Allah will grant him strength and victory; even if a hundred men fight him, he will prevail and overcome them. And if he cries out at them, they will flee, and everyone who sees him will fear him.”

11:1-6 (M. H. Shakir): Alif Lam Ra. (This is) a Book whose verses are made decisive, then are they made plain, from One Wise, All-aware; That you shall not serve (any) but Allah; surely I am a warner for you from Him and a giver of good news, And you that ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him, He will provide you with a goodly provision to an appointed term and bestow His grace on every one who has abundance of merit; and if you turn back, then surely I fear for you the punishment of a great day. To Allah is your return, and He has power over all things. Now surely they fold up their breasts that they may conceal (their enmity) from Him; now surely when they put on their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they make public, surely He knows what is in the breasts. And there is no animal in the earth but on Allah is the sustenance of it, and He knows its resting place and its depository; all is in a manifest book.

99-/5000: Ibn Bābawayh, in the narration of Sufyān ibn Sa‘īd al-Thawrī, regarding the meaning of “Alif Lām Rā,” al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) said: “Its meaning is: I am Allah, the Most Kind.”

99-/5001: ‘Alī ibn Ibrāhīm said: “Alif Lām Rā. A Book whose verses are made decisive, then are they made plain from One Wise, All-aware,” meaning: from Allah, the Exalted. “That you shall not worship any but Allah; surely I am a warner to you from Him and a bearer of good news. And that you ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him, He will provide you with a goodly provision to an appointed term and bestow His grace on everyone who has merit.” And it is decisive.

99-/5002: He said: And in the narration of Abū al-Jārūd, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), regarding “Alif Lām Rā. A Book whose verses are made decisive,” he said: “It is the Qur’an.” “From One Wise, All-aware,” he said: “From One Wise, All-aware (from Him).” “And that you ask forgiveness of your Lord,” he said: “Meaning the believers.” And His saying: “And He bestows His grace on everyone who has merit,” he said: “It is ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (peace be upon him).”

99-/5003: Ibn Shahr Āshūb transmitted the narration of Abū al-Jārūd, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), concerning His saying, “And He bestows His grace on everyone who has merit,” that: “The one intended is ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (peace be upon him).”

99-/5004: And from the route of the opponents: Ibn Mardūyah, with his chain from Ibn ‘Abbās, said regarding His saying, “And He bestows His grace on everyone who has merit”…
