S 30 Ayat 54

[Qur'an 30:54] Allah is He Who created you from a state of weakness, then He gave strength after weakness, then ordained weakness after strength. (M. H. Shakir)

99-/8373 4 - Ali ibn Ibrahim said regarding the saying of Allah, the Almighty:

"Allah is He Who created you from a state of weakness," [Qur'an 30:54] meaning: from a weak, impure drop (nutfah). "Then He gave strength after weakness, then ordained weakness after strength," meaning: old age.

99-/8374 5 - Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated from several of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, from Muhammad ibn Ali, from Abdur-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Hashim, from Ahmad ibn Muhassin al-Maythami, from Abu Abdillah Ja'far ibn Muhammad (peace be upon him), in a hadith which contains evidence for the existence of the Creator, the Exalted and Sublime.

Ibn Abi al-'Awja'—in the hadith, after Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him) had presented proof of the Creator—said: I asked him: "What prevented Him—if the matter is as you say—from appearing clearly to His creation and inviting them to worship Him so that no two of them would differ? Why has He remained concealed from them and sent messengers to them? Had He directly addressed them, it would have brought them closer to belief in Him."

He (peace be upon him) replied to me: "Woe unto you! How can He be concealed from you, when He has shown you His power within yourself: your coming into existence after non-existence, your growing up after childhood, your strength after weakness, your weakness after strength, your sickness after health, your health after sickness, your pleasure after anger, and your anger after pleasure?"

"And your sadness after your joy, your joy after your sadness; your hatred after your love, your love after your hatred; your determination after hesitation, your hesitation after determination; your desire after aversion, your aversion after desire; your willingness after fear, your fear after willingness; your hope after despair, your despair after hope; the thought occurring to you which never crossed your imagination before, and the sudden disappearance from your mind of what you previously believed firmly."

He continued recounting for me His power manifest within myself, which I could not deny, until I almost thought He would appear openly between me and him.
