Ibrahim Ayah 49-52

99-/5800 _12- From ‘Abdullah b. Sinan, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: On the day when the earth shall be changed to a different earth, he said: “It will be changed into a pure loaf of bread, from which people will eat until the reckoning is finished.” Someone said to him: “On that day they will be too preoccupied for eating and drinking!” He replied: “The son of Adam was created hollow; he must have food and drink. Are they more preoccupied, or (what about) when they are in the Fire and have called for help? For He said: And if they ask for succor they shall be succored with water like molten brass [1]?”

[1] al-Kahf 18:29

And if they cry for succor, they shall be succored with water like molten brass, which will scald their faces; evil the drink and ill the resting-place. (M. H. Shakir)

99-/5801 _13- From Muhammad b. Muslim who said: I heard Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) say: “Indeed Allah has created on the earth, since He created it, seven worlds that were not from the progeny of Adam. He created them from the surface of the earth, and they inhabited it, one after another with their own world. Then Allah created Adam, the father of this mankind, and He created his offspring from him. By Allah, Paradise has not been empty of the spirits of the believers since Allah created it, nor has the Fire been empty of the spirits of the unbelievers since Allah created it. Do you suppose that when it is the Day of Resurrection, and Allah joins the bodies of the people of Paradise to their spirits in Paradise, and joins the bodies of the people of the Fire to their spirits in the Fire, that Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will no longer be worshiped in His lands, nor create a creation to worship and unify Him? Yes, by Allah—He will surely create a creation without males and females, who will worship Him, declare His oneness, and magnify Him. And He will create for them an earth to carry them and a heaven to shade them. Does not Allah say: On the day when the earth shall be changed to a different earth and the heavens, and Allah also said: Are We then tired with the first creation? Nay! They are in doubt about a new creation [2].”

[2] Surat Qāf 50:15

Were We then fatigued with the first creation? Yet are they in doubt with regard to a new creation. (M. H. Shakir)

99-/5802 _14- ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said regarding His saying: On the day when the earth shall be changed to a different earth: It will be changed into a pure white loaf at the Station; the believers will eat from it.

The saying of the Exalted:

And you shall see the guilty on that day linked together in chains—up to His saying—And that those possessed of understanding may mind [49-52].

Shakir, 14:49-52:

14:49 And you will see the guilty on that day linked together in chains,

14:50 Their shirts made of pitch and the fire covering their faces,

14:51 That Allah may requite each soul (according to) what it has earned; surely Allah is swift in reckoning.

14:52 This is a sufficient admonition for the people and that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is One God, and that those possessed of understanding may mind.

99-/5803 _1- ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said regarding His saying: And you shall see the guilty on that day linked together in chains: It means shackled, some of them to others. Their shirts made of pitch: “shirts” means garments.

99-/5804 _2- He said: And in the narration of Abu al-Jarud, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), regarding His saying: Their shirts made of pitch: “It is the hot, molten brass whose heat has reached its utmost. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: and the fire covering their faces—clothe them in that brass so the fire covers their faces.”

99-/5805 _3- And he said regarding His saying: This is a communication for mankind: it means Muhammad—so that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is One God, and that those possessed of understanding may mind, that is, those of intellect.

Al-Mustadrak

(Surah Ibrahim)

The saying of the Exalted:

That is for him who fears My majesty and fears My threat [14].

Shakir, 14:14:

And certainly We will make you dwell in the land after them; this is for him who fears My majesty and fears My threat.

99- _1- Tuhaf al-‘Uqul: From Imam ‘Ali b. al-Husayn (peace be upon him), that he said—in a long tradition: “So fear Allah, O believers, at night as the Godwary fear, for Allah says: That is for him who fears My majesty and fears My threat. Beware the blossom of this world’s life, its delusion and its evils; and remember the harmful outcome of inclining toward it—for its adornment is a trial, and loving it is a sin.”
