Ibrahim Ayah 9

Whoever receives a blessing and recognizes it in his heart—in another narration: affirms it in his heart—and praises God for it with his tongue, his speech will not conclude before God commands increase for him—in the narration of Abu Ishaq al-Mada'ini: before God permits increase for him—and that is His saying: “If you are grateful, I will most certainly give you more.”

If you are grateful, I will most certainly give you more. (Qur’an 14:7, M. H. Shakir)

99-/5691 _14- And from Abu Walad, who said: I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him): This manifest blessing we have from God—if we are grateful to Him for it and praise Him, will He not increase us, as God has said in His Book, “If you are grateful, I will most certainly give you more”? He said: Yes. Whoever praises God for His blessings and gives thanks to Him, and knows that it is from Him and not from other than Him, God will increase His blessings for him.

Has there not come to you the story of those before you, of the people of Nuh and ‘Ad and Thamud and those after them? None knows them but Allah. Their messengers came to them with clear arguments; but they put their hands into their mouths and said: Surely we deny that with which you are sent, and most surely we are in serious doubt as to that to which you invite us. (Qur’an 14:9, M. H. Shakir)

/5692 _15- ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said, regarding His saying: “Has there not come to you the story of those before you, of the people of Nuh …” up to His saying: “they put their hands into their mouths”—meaning into the mouths of the prophets—“and said: Surely we deny that with which you are sent, and most surely we are in serious doubt as to that to which you invite us.”

And what reason have we that we should not rely on Allah? And He has indeed guided us in our ways; and certainly we would bear with patience your persecution of us; and on Allah should the reliant rely. (Qur’an 14:12, M. H. Shakir)

99-/5693 _16- Al-‘Ayyashi: al-Hasan ibn Zharif, from Muhammad, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding His saying: “And on Allah should the reliant rely,” said: “Those who sow (the farmers).”

99-/5694 _17- Ibn Babawayh in (al-Faqih), mursal from al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), regarding His saying, Mighty and Majestic: “And on Allah should the reliant rely,” said: “Those who sow (the farmers).”
