96. The Favor of Hazrat Abū al-Faḍl (a.s.) to a Truck Driver
Approximately twenty years ago (Farvardīn 1373 Shamsī / March-April 1994), I was traveling to Bandar Abbas to visit relatives. On the way, I came across a magnificent mosque named Masjid Hazrat Abū al-Faḍl (a.s.). It was a beautiful mosque with nearby medical centers and public service buildings, all endowed to the mosque. There were also two fuel stations on both sides of the road with matching tilework from the mosque.
I asked the caretakers of the mosque about the story behind such a grand mosque in the middle of the desert. They said:
“This mosque has an interesting story.
One day, a truck driver was passing through this area. He momentarily fell asleep at the wheel. His truck veered off the road into a downward slope, one side of the truck completely lifted off the ground.
At that very moment, the driver woke up and saw himself in the grip of death. He cried out:
‘Yā Abā al-Faḍl al-ʿAbbās!’
Suddenly, he saw two hands appear in the air, pushing the truck back toward the road. The wheels returned to the ground, and miraculously, the truck came back under the driver’s control.
The driver got out, marked the spot, returned to his hometown, sold all his movable and immovable possessions, and dedicated everything to building this mosque and its surrounding structures.
Once the news of this incident spread, other charitable people also contributed, and thus this grand complex was constructed in the middle of the desert.” (1)
