112. The burial place of Hazrat ‘Alī Aṣghar (a.s.):
Someone asked the late Āyatullāh Sayyid Murtadā Kashmīrī (1268–1323 AH):
“Where is the burial place of Hazrat ‘Alī Aṣghar?”
He wept intensely and replied:
“I don’t know. Come tomorrow, in shāʾ Allāh, I will try to find a convincing answer.”
That night, in a dream, he reached the sacred presence of the Master of Martyrs. The Imām said:
“Why did you not answer my Zāʾirs (pilgrims)?”
He replied:
“My master, I did not know what to say.”
The Imām said:
“Know this and tell them: the body of my dear son is upon my chest.”
This narration supports the account of Abū Khalaīq, who reported to Mukhtār that Imām Husain (a.s.) buried the child behind the tents. He ended by saying:
When Abū Ayyūb al-Ghanawī, the leader of the grave diggers, didn’t find a head among the martyrs, he ordered the land of Karbalāʾ to be overturned, until they discovered the body of the child and exhumed it.
Then Abū Khalaīq says:
“I saw in the presence of Ibn Ziyād that the sacred head of Hazrat ‘Alī Aṣghar (a.s.) was in a tray along with the blessed head of Imām Husain (a.s.).”³
The biography of the late Sayyid Murtadā Kashmīrī is recorded in the valuable book Nujūm al-Samāʾ.⁴
