The Granting of the Throne (ʿArsh) to Imam Husain (a.s.)
The Granting of the Throne (ʿArsh) to Imam Husain (a.s.)
Regarding what Allah bestowed upon Imam Husain (a.s.) from the greatest of created things, namely the Throne (ʿArsh), there are various aspects to this bestowal.
Among them is that Allah granted him the shade of the Throne, which will be the gathering place of Imam Husain (a.s.) on the Day of Resurrection, where he will sit together with his visitors and those who wept for him, conversing with them.
Then the maidens of Paradise will send messages to them saying that they should come to Paradise, for they long for them. Yet they will decline, preferring the company and conversation of Imam Husain (a.s.) over Paradise itself. [355]
Allah also granted him the right side of the Throne, which is his station in the Aalam al-barzakh (Intermediate World). From there he looks toward the place of his martyrdom and toward his visitors and those who weep for him. He seeks forgiveness for them and requests his father and grandfather to seek forgiveness on their behalf as well. [356]
Allah also granted him that which is above the Throne, which is the place where the visitor of Imam Husain (a.s.) converses with Allah, as has been mentioned in the traditions concerning the merits of his visitation. [357]
Thus, the Throne is the place of conversation for his visitors; its shade is for them when they converse with Imam Husain (a.s.); and what is above it is for them when Allah speaks to them.
Allah also granted him the canopies of the Throne (adhillat al-arsh), regarding which it is stated in the Ziyārah:
The canopies of the Throne trembled because of your blood and wept for you. [358]
Allah also granted him counterparts to those angels who surround and circle the Throne, as will be explained later, if Allah wills.
The highest and greatest aspect of all these bestowals is that Allah granted him the entire Throne itself, for He made Imam Husain (a.s.) and his brother Imam Hasan (a.s.) the adornment of the Throne. [359]

Everything is perfected by its adornment. Therefore, if the Throne could speak, it would surely say:
“I am from Imam Husain (a.s.).”
