Al-Isra Ayah 66-69

He [Iblis] let out a scream, and the demons returned to him. They said, “Our master, what is this third scream?” He said, “By Allah, it is because of the companions of ‘Ali; yet, by Your might and Your majesty—O Lord—I shall surely make sins seem fair to them until I make You detest them.” He [the narrator] said: Then Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said, “By Him Who sent Muhammad with the truth, the demons and devils swarm around the believer more than wasps swarm over meat; yet the believer is harder [to shake] than the mountain. A mountain, when the axe approaches it, you hew from it; but the believer will not be separated from his religion.”

99-/6441 _2- From ‘Abd al-Rahman b. “Surely as regards My servants, you have no authority over them; and your Lord is sufficient as a Protector.” (M. H. Shakir) He said: It was revealed about ‘Ali b. Abi Talib (peace be upon him), and we hope that it applies to whomever Allah loves among His Muslim servants.

His saying, exalted is He:

Your Lord is He Who drives for you the ships in the sea that you may seek of His bounty; surely He is ever Merciful to you. And when distress afflicts you in the sea, away go those whom you call on except He; but when He brings you safe to the land, you turn aside; and man is ever ungrateful. What! do you then feel secure that He should not make the side of the land to swallow you up, or send on you a violent sandstorm? Then you shall not find a guardian for yourselves. Or do you feel secure that He will (not) send you back into it another time, then send on you a gale of wind and drown you because you disbelieved? Then you shall not find for yourselves against Us any avenger. (M. H. Shakir)

99-/6442 _3- ‘Ali b. Ibrahim: Then He said: “Your Lord is He Who drives for you the ships in the sea,” meaning the ships in the sea, “that you may seek of His bounty; surely He is ever Merciful to you. And when distress afflicts you in the sea, away go those whom you call on except He,” meaning that those whom you call upon besides Allah are nullified. “But when He brings you safe to the land, you turn aside; and man is ever ungrateful.” Then He frightened them, saying: “Do you then feel secure that He should not make the side of the land to swallow you up, or send on you a hasib,” that is, a punishment and destruction, “then you shall not find for yourselves any guardian? Or do you feel secure that He will (not) send you back into it another time,” meaning another time, “then send on you a qasif from the wind,” that is, it comes from every direction, “and drown you because you disbelieved? Then you shall not find for yourselves against Us any tabi‘.”

99-/6443 _4- He said: And in the narration of Abu al-Jarud, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), regarding His saying, “qasifan mina-r-rih” [a gale of wind], he said: “It is the ‘asif (raging wind).” And regarding His saying, “tabi‘an,” he said: [it means] “a wakil (protector/guardian),” and it is also said: “a kafil (surety),” and it is also said: “a tha’ir (avenger).”
