108. The Exalted Station of Hazrat ʿAlī Akbar and Hazrat ʿAlī Aṣghar (a.s.)
On Friday, 24/12/80 (corresponding to 30 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1422 AH), we traveled from Qom to Isfahan in the car of Āqāy Badhrafshān. During the journey, Āqāy Badhrafshān narrated: Last year, on 12/11/79, I visited the holy shrines and returned to Isfahan on 21/11/79. I became severely ill and was hospitalized.
I was completely bedridden with an IV drip and in a very poor state.
I sought the intercession of Hazrat Sayyid al-Shuhadāʾ (a.s.) and pleaded: "Your visitor is now stuck in the hospital in this condition!"
That night, in a dream, I saw that I had once again reached the holy shrines and entered the sacred sanctuary of Hazrat Sayyid al-Shuhadāʾ. The door of the ḍarīḥ (shrine) opened, and I saw Imām Husain (a.s.) standing at the center of the shrine.
I wanted to fall at his feet, but he did not permit me. I tried to move toward the lower part of his feet, but again he did not allow it. I asked, “Why don’t you permit me?” He replied:
“You are greatly negligent. Why did you say such words at such a place, and why did you mention the name of Hazrat ʿAlī Akbar in that manner? Do you know his station?”
Āqāy Badhrafshān said: I had said those words in jest, and so I pleaded for forgiveness, expressed regret, and Hazrat forgave me.
As I was crying and humbling myself, I awoke from the dream and continued crying for about half an hour after waking.
At that time, I was so weak that two people had to hold me under my arms to help me walk. But after this dream, I felt lightened. I picked up the IV stand myself and, without anyone's help, went to the restroom.
In the morning, when the doctor came, I said, “Discharge me.” He said, “That’s impossible. Your whole body is full of infection; you must stay at least one more week.”
I couldn’t bring myself to tell him what had happened.
At noon, Āqāy Abṭaḥī called. I answered the phone myself. He asked, “Who are you?” He didn’t expect that I would be the one answering. Eventually, I was discharged another day.
