99-/1160: Abu Basir, from Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him), said: I asked him about a man who approaches his wife from her rear. He disliked that and said: “Beware of the back passages of women.” And he said: “The meaning of ‘Your women are a tilth for you, so come to your tilth as you wish’ is: at whatever time you wish.”

99-/1161: Al-Fath ibn Yazid al-Jurjani said: I wrote to al-Rida (peace be upon him) about the like of it, and the reply came: “You asked about one who approaches his slave-girl from her rear. A woman is a man’s amusement, so she is not to be harmed, and she is a tilth as Allah, the Exalted, said.”

99-/1162: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub: from Muhammad ibn Isma‘il, from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan, and Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from Jamil ibn Darraj, from Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: “Indeed Allah loves those who turn much [to Him], and He loves those who purify themselves.” He said: “People used to cleanse themselves with cotton and stones; then ablution (wudu) was introduced, and it is a noble trait. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) commanded it and practiced it. So Allah revealed in His Book: ‘Indeed Allah loves those who turn much [to Him], and He loves those who purify themselves.’”

Qur’an 2:224 — M. H. Shakir: And do not make Allah (by your oaths) an obstacle to your doing good and guarding (against evil) and making peace between people; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

99-/1163: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub: from ‘Ali, from his father, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from ‘Ali ibn Isma‘il, from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar, from Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: “And do not make Allah (by your oaths) an obstacle to your doing good and guarding (against evil) and making peace between people.” He said: “If you are called to reconcile between two people, do not say: ‘I am under an oath not to do it.’”

99-/1164: From him: from several of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa, from Abu Ayyub al-Khazzaz, who said: I heard Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him) say: “Do not swear by Allah—whether truthfully or falsely—for He, Mighty and Majestic, says: ‘And do not make Allah (by your oaths) an obstacle to your doing good…’”
