An-Nahl Ayah 27-29

(Qur’an 16:27-29, M. H. Shakir) Then on the day of resurrection He will disgrace them and say: Where are My associates for whose sake you became hostile? Those who are given the knowledge will say: Surely disgrace and evil are upon the unbelievers today. Those whom the angels cause to die while they are unjust to their souls; then would they offer submission: We did not do any evil. Nay! Surely Allah knows what you did. Therefore enter the gates of hell, to abide therein; so certainly evil is the abode of the proud.

99-/6012 - From Muhammad ibn Muslim, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said regarding “So Allah came upon their building from the foundations”: “There was a house of treachery in which they would gather whenever they intended evil.”

99-/6013 - ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said regarding His saying, “Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say: Where are My associates for whose sake you became hostile? Those who were given knowledge will say: Surely disgrace and evil are upon the unbelievers today” [16:27-29]: Those who were given knowledge are the Imams (peace be upon them). They will say to their enemies: Where are your partners, and whom did you obey in the world? Then He also said about them: “Those whom the angels cause to die while they are unjust to themselves—so they cast down submission,” meaning they submit to what has befallen them of tribulation; then they say: “We did not do any evil,” so Allah refutes them, saying: “Nay! Surely Allah knows what you used to do. Therefore enter the gates of Hell, to abide therein; and evil indeed is the abode of the arrogant.”

(Qur’an 16:30-37, M. H. Shakir) And it shall be said to those who guard (against evil): What is it that your Lord has revealed? They shall say: Good. For those who do good in this world is good; and certainly the abode of the hereafter is better, and certainly most excellent is the abode of those who guard (against evil). The gardens of perpetuity, which they will enter; rivers flow beneath them; they shall have therein what they please; thus does Allah reward those who guard (against evil). Those whom the angels cause to die in a good state, saying: Peace be on you; enter the garden for what you did. Do they wait for aught but that the angels should come to them or that the command of your Lord should come? Thus did those before them; and Allah did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. So the evil (consequences) of what they did shall afflict them, and that which they mocked shall encompass them. And those who associate (others with Allah) say: If Allah had pleased, we would not have served aught but Him, (neither) we nor our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything without (order from) Him. Thus did those before them; yet are the messengers responsible for aught but a plain delivering (of the message)? And certainly We raised in every nation a messenger saying: Serve Allah and shun the Shaitan. Then of them were some whom Allah guided, and there were others against whom error became due; therefore travel in the land, then see what was the end of the rejecters. If you desire for their guidance, yet surely Allah does not guide those whom He leads astray, and they shall have no helpers.
