An-Nahl Ayah 115

Quran 16:115 (M. H. Shakir): He has only forbidden you what dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that over which any other name than that of Allah has been invoked; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring, nor exceeding the limit, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

99-/6177: Al-‘Ayyāshī, from Mansūr b. Hāzim, who said: I said to Abū ‘Abd Allāh (peace be upon him): A muhrim is compelled to [choose between] game and carrion; which of the two should he eat? He said: “He should eat from the game.” I said: Has not Allah made carrion lawful for one who is compelled to it? He said: “Yes, but do you not see that he would be eating from his own property? Let him eat the game and pay the fidya.”

99-/6178: Al-Shaykh in al-Tahdhīb, with his chain from Mūsā b. al-Qāsim, from Muḥammad, from Sayf b. ‘Umayrah, from Mansūr b. Hāzim, who said: I asked him about a muhrim who is compelled to eat game and carrion. He said: “Which of the two would you prefer to eat [1]?” I said: Carrion, because game is forbidden to the muhrim. He said: “Which would you prefer: to eat from your own property or from carrion?” I said: I would eat from my own property. He said: “Then eat the game and pay the fidya.”

Its explanation has already been given [2].

Quran 16:116-124 (M. H. Shakir):

116. And do not utter the lie which your tongues describe: This is lawful and this is unlawful, so that you may forge a lie against Allah; surely those who forge a lie against Allah shall not prosper.

117. A little enjoyment, and for them is a painful chastisement.

118. And for those who were Jews We prohibited what We have related to you already, and We did them no injustice, but they were unjust to themselves.

119. Yet surely your Lord—to those who do evil in ignorance, then repent after that and reform—most surely your Lord after that is Forgiving, Merciful.

120. Surely Ibrahim was an exemplar, obedient to Allah, upright, and he was not one of the polytheists,

121. Grateful for His favors; He chose him and guided him on the right path.

122. And We gave him good in this world, and in the hereafter he will most surely be among the good.

123. Then We revealed to you: Follow the faith of Ibrahim, the upright one; and he was not one of the polytheists.

124. The Sabbath was only made to be observed by those who differed about it, and most surely your Lord will judge between them on the day of resurrection concerning that about which they differed.

99-/6179: ‘Alī b. Ibrāhīm, regarding His saying, “And do not utter the lie which your tongues describe: This is lawful and this is unlawful, so that you may forge a lie against Allah,” said: It refers to what the Jews used to say: “What is in the bellies of these cattle is exclusively for our males and forbidden to our wives” [3].
