Imam Husain (a.s.), the soul at peace al-Nafs al-Mutmainnah
Imam Husain (a.s.), the soul at peace al-Nafs al-Mutmainnah
The fifth verse:
“O tranquil and reassured soul! Return to your Lord, pleased and well-pleasing.” (Surah al-Fajr 89:27–28). [1056]
It is narrated from Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) that the intended meaning in this verse is al-Imam Husain (a.s.), for he was the possessor of al-Nafs al-Mutmainnah, al-Raadhiyah, and al-Mardhiyyah. [1057]
The author says:
The explanation of this matter is that whoever comes to know Allah and recognizes His greatness and majesty will love Him. When he loves Him, he will be pleased with whatever comes from Him, and no dislike or agitation will arise within him at all. Rather, at the time when the most severe afflictions descend upon him, his tranquility and contentment become even stronger.
The perfect manifestation of this reality appeared in Imam Husain (a.s.), as will become clear from the previous and subsequent discussions.
