Ayats of Quran

“So you mocked them until they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them. Surely I have rewarded them this day because they were patient; surely they are the achievers.” (Surah al-Mu’minun 23:110–111)

“And those who annoy believing men and believing women undeservedly, they bear on themselves a calumny and a manifest sin.” (Surah al-Ahzab 33:58)

“And do not call one another by nicknames; evil is a bad name after faith.” (Surah al-Hujurat 49:11)

10- Regarding the verse:

“O you who believe! Let not one people laugh at another people, perchance they may be better than they; nor let women laugh at other women, perchance they may be better than they...” (Surah al-Hujurat 49:11)

Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said: “This verse was revealed concerning Safiyyah bint Huyayy ibn Akhtab, who was one of the wives of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.). A’ishah and Hafsah used to hurt her and insult her, saying to her:

‘O daughter of a Jew!’

She complained about this to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.). He said to her:

‘Why do you not answer them?’ She said:‘What should I say, O Messenger of Allah?’

He (s.a.w.a.) said: ‘Say: My father is Harun (Aaron), the Prophet of Allah; my uncle is Musa (Moses), the one who spoke to Allah; and my husband is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah. What fault do you find in me?’

So she replied to them with these words.

They said: ‘The Messenger of Allah has taught you this.’

Then Allah revealed concerning this matter:

﴿يا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا يَسْخَرْ قَوْمٌ مِنْ قَوْمٍ عَسىٰ أَنْ يَكُونُوا خَيْراً مِنْهُمْ﴾

“O you who believe! Let not one people laugh at another people, perchance they may be better than they...” (Surah al-Hujurat 49:11)

up to His saying:

﴿وَ لا تَنابَزُوا بِالْأَلْقابِ بِئْسَ الِاسْمُ الْفُسُوقُ بَعْدَ الْإِيمانِ﴾

“And do not call one another by nicknames; evil is a bad name after faith.” (Surah al-Hujurat 49:11)

11- Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said:

“Whoever looks down upon a believer because of his lack of wealth, Allah will look down upon him, and he will remain insignificant in the sight of Allah until he repents from what he has done.” And he (a.s.) said: “On the Day of Judgment, the believers will take pride in one another.”

13- Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said:

“Indeed, Allah created the believers from the light of His greatness and the majesty of His grandeur. Therefore, whoever attacks them or rejects their words has in fact opposed Allah upon His Throne and has no share with Allah whatsoever. Rather, it is the partnership of Shaytan.”

14- Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said:

“There is no person who attacks the honor and reputation of a believer except that he will die the worst kind of death, and at that time he will wish that he could return to goodness.”

15- Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said:“Do not belittle a poor believer. Whoever belittles or looks down upon a poor believer, Allah will look down upon him and remain displeased with him until he abandons that attitude or repents.

16- Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said:

“When a believer says to his brother, ‘Uff!’ (an expression of contempt), he leaves his Wilaayah (bond of friendship and loyalty). When he says, ‘You are my enemy,’ one of the two has fallen into disbelief.

And Allah does not accept the deed of a believer while he harbors evil feelings toward another believer.”

17- Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said:

“Indeed, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, created the believer from the light of His greatness and the majesty of His grandeur. Therefore, whoever attacks a believer or rejects him has in fact opposed Allah upon His Throne. Such a person has no share in Allah’s wilaayah (guardianship); rather, he belongs to the party of Shaytan.”

18- Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.a.) said:

“On the Night Journey (Me‘raj), I was taken up, and Allah revealed to me from behind the veil what He revealed, and spoke to me directly concerning what He spoke.

Among the things He said to me was:

‘O Muhammad! Whoever harms a friend (wali) of Mine has declared war against Me, and whoever wages war against Me, I wage war against him.’

I said:

‘My Lord, who is this friend of Yours? For I know that whoever wages war against You, You wage war against him.’

Allah said:

‘He is the one from whom I took the covenant of your wilayat and of your wasi (successor), and of the inheritors of both of you.”

19- Imam al-Baqir (a.s.) and Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said:

“Abu Dharr once insulted a man during the time of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) by referring to his mother, saying:

‘O son of a black woman!’

His mother was indeed black. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) said to him:

‘O Abu Dharr! Are you insulting him because of his mother?’

After that, Abu Dharr continued rubbing his face and head in the dust until the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) was pleased with him.”

21- It is narrated from one of the Imams (a.s.) that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.a.) said:

“Indeed Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has concealed three things within three things:

He concealed His pleasure within acts of obedience;

He concealed His anger within acts of disobedience;

And He concealed His friend (wali) among His creation.

Therefore, let none of you consider any act of obedience insignificant, for he does not know in which act Allah’s pleasure lies.

Let none of you consider any sin insignificant, for he does not know in which sin Allah’s anger lies.

And let none of you look down upon any of Allah’s creation, for he does not know which of them may be a friend (wali) of Allah.”
