99-/4858 (Tafsir al-‘Ayyashi 2:10/120) -4: Al-‘Ayyashi, from al-Thumali, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah, “And when Our clear communications are recited to them, those who do not hope for Our meeting say: Bring a Quran other than this, or alter it. Say: It is not for me to alter it of my own accord; I follow naught but what is revealed to me.” He said: “They said: If, in place of ‘Ali, Abu Bakr or ‘Umar were put, we would follow him.”
99-/4859 (Tafsir al-‘Ayyashi 2:11/120) -5: From Abu al-Safātij, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), concerning Allah’s saying, “Bring a Quran other than this, or alter it”: “It means the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him).”
99-/4860 (Tafsir al-‘Ayyashi 2:12/120) -6: From Mansur ibn Hazim, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “The Messenger (may Allah bless him and his family) continued to say, ‘Indeed I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a grievous day,’ until Surah al-Fath was revealed, and he did not return to that statement.”
Qur’an 10:18-19 (M. H. Shakir): And they serve besides Allah that which can neither harm them nor profit them, and they say: These are our intercessors with Allah. Say: Do you inform Allah of what He does not know in the heavens and the earth? Glory be to Him, and supremely exalted is He above what they set up (with Him). And people are naught but a single nation, then they disagree; and had not a word already gone forth from your Lord, it would have certainly been decided between them in respect of that in which they disagree.
99-/4861 (Tafsir al-Qummi 1:310) -1: ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said: Quraysh used to worship the idols and say, “We only worship them so that they may bring us near to Allah in nearness, for we are unable to worship Allah.” So Allah refuted them, saying: Tell them, O Muhammad: “Do you inform Allah of what He does not know?”—that is, He does not know (such a thing). He substituted one word in place of another, meaning: He has no partner to be worshiped. And His saying, “And people are naught but a single nation”—that is, upon a single doctrine—“then they disagreed; and had not a word already gone forth from your Lord, it would have certainly been decided between them”—that is, it was in Allah’s prior knowledge that they would differ, and He sent among them the prophets and, after the prophets, the Imams; and were it not for that, they would have perished at their divergence.
Qur’an 10:20 (M. H. Shakir): And they say: Why is not a sign sent to him from his Lord? Say: The unseen is only for Allah; therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait.
99-/4862 (Kamal al-Din wa Tamam al-Ni‘mah: 17) -1: Ibn Babawayh said: ‘Ali ibn Ahmad al-Daqqaq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Abi ‘Abdillah al-Kufi narrated to us, who said: Musa ibn ‘Imran al-Nakha‘i narrated to us, from his uncle al-Husayn ibn Yazid, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Hamzah, from Yahya ibn Abi al-Qasim, who said: I asked al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the saying of Allah, “Alif Lam Mim. This Book, there is no doubt in it, is a guidance to those who guard (against evil), those who believe in the unseen.” He said: “The Godwary are the Shia of ‘Ali (peace be upon him), and the Unseen is the standing Proof (al-Hujjah al-Qa’im). The proof of that is the saying of Allah, ‘And they say: Why is not a sign sent to him from his Lord? Say: The unseen is only for Allah; therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait.’”
99-/4863 (Kamal al-Din wa Tamam al-Ni‘mah: 5/645) -2: And from him, with his chain, from Muhammad ibn Mas‘ud, who said: Abu Salih Khalaf ibn Hammad al-Kashshi narrated to me, who said: Sahl ibn Ziyad narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn narrated to me, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Nasr, who said: Al-Rida (peace be upon him) said: “How excellent are patience and awaiting the relief! Have you not heard the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘And watch; surely I am a watcher with you’ [Hud 11:93], and ‘Therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait’ [Yunus 10:20]. So you must be patient, for relief only comes at the point of despair; indeed those before you were more patient than you.”

99-/4864 (Kamal al-Din wa Tamam al-Ni‘mah: 4/645) -3: And from him, with his chain, from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl, from Abu al-Hasan al-Rida (peace be upon him), who said: I asked him about the relief (al-faraj). He said: “Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: ‘Therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait.’”

Qur’an 10:23 (M. H. Shakir): O people! surely your inordinacy is against your own souls.
