3. Imam Husain (a.s.) as the Secret of Creation

In a passage from the noble Ḥadīth al-Kisāʾ, it is stated that God, the Most Beneficent, addressed the angels saying:

“I did not create the elevated heavens, the outspread earth, the shining sun, the radiant moon, the revolving celestial sphere, the flowing sea, nor the ships sailing therein, except for the love of these five who are beneath the cloak.”

This sacred divine narration explicitly declares that the Five People of the Cloak (Ahl al-Kisāʾ) are the cause and secret of the creation of the universe.

On this basis, Imam Husain (a.s.) is one of the secrets of creation and among the reasons for the creation of the world.

Āyatullāh Mīrjahānī in his noble book al-Junnah al-ʿĀṣimah, quoting from Kashf al-Laʾālī by Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn ʿArandas, narrates with a connected chain to Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī that the noble Messenger (peace be upon him and his progeny) transmitted from God, the Most Beneficent, saying:

“O Aḥmad! If it were not for you, I would not have created the heavens; if it were not for ʿAlī, I would not have created you; and if it were not for Fāṭimah, I would not have created both of you.”

Ibn ʿArandas was among the great scholars and prominent poets of the ninth century AH. ʿAllāmah Amīnī writes about one of his odes:

“It is famous among the companions that these verses were never recited in any gathering except that Hazrat Baqiyyatullāh (may our souls be sacrificed for him) was present there.”

The complete text of these verses is recorded in al-Muntakhab of Ṭurayḥī.

ʿAllāmah Mīrjahānī has seen the manuscript copy of the book Kashf al-Laʾālī in the library of ʿAllāmah Shaykh Muḥammad Samāwī in Najaf al-Ashraf.

On Monday, the 24th of Dhī al-Qaʿdah al-Ḥarām 1434 AH, corresponding to 8/7/1392 Shamsī (Iranian solar calendar), in Holy Mashhad, at the Husainiyyah of the late Āyatullāh Shīrāzī (may his secret be sanctified), I went to meet my honorable friend, the capable researcher, Ḥujjat al-Islām wal-Muslimīn Āqā Sayyid ʿAlī Aṣghar Amīnī, and I inquired from him the story of his meeting with ʿAllāmah Amīnī.¹⁴

He said:

"When ʿAllāmah Amīnī (may his secret be sanctified) had returned from Pakistan and was staying at ʿAlīzādah Hotel (located in Bast-e Bālā), I had the honor of visiting his presence."

While discussing the trip to Pakistan, he (ʿAllāmah Amīnī) said:

“In Karachi, I went to visit Āqā Ḥāfiẓiyān, but he wasn’t there. I said to him: ‘He is currently in Holy Mashhad. If you permit, I can bring him to your blessed presence.’ He said: ‘I would like to see him.’ So we set an appointment for 9 a.m. the next day. I informed the late Ḥāfiẓiyān, and at 9 a.m., accompanied by him, we arrived in the service of ʿAllāmah Amīnī.

The late Ḥāfiẓiyān (1332–1400 AH) presented one volume of his valuable book “Lawḥ al-Maḥfūẓ” to ʿAllāmah.

Then ʿAllāmah Amīnī said:

‘A man once came to me and said: “In your book al-Ghadīr, at times you mention an important point, but you don’t cite the source.” I went back to review and found he was right — in some places I had forgotten to mention the source. So I realized I needed to travel to Istanbul and do research in the Süleymaniye Library.

The library’s access hours were very limited, which was insufficient for a thorough and complete investigation. I contacted the Iraqi ambassador and several other prominent individuals, requesting that the library administrator allow me extended access — but it was not possible.

One night, I resorted to Mawlā al-Muttaqīn, Amīr al-Muʾminīn (a.s.)) and said:

“Dear Mawlā! I am working for you — please grant me your help.”

At dawn, there was a knock on the door. My host came and said:

“Someone wants to see you.” I said: “Let them in.” A man entered and said: “I have a position at the Süleymaniye Library, and I am myself a Shia. I am entirely at your service. Whatever book you need, just give me the title. I will bring a microfilm camera into the library and film the necessary pages for you, on the condition that no one finds out. That is why I personally came to you — I did not send anyone else.”

And so, whatever I needed, he would film it and bring it to me.

Then ʿAllāmah Amīnī said: “In Istanbul, I gathered numerous notes regarding Imam Ḥasan and Imam Husain (a.s.) which amount to two large volumes. If they were to be published, they would be as beneficial as al-Ghadīr itself.”

He then explained a number of his findings to the late Ḥāfiẓiyān, and among them, he said:

“During this trip, I found the complete version of the ḥadīth ‘Lawlāk’, and its full text is as follows:

O Aḥmad! If not for you, I would not have created the heavens; and if not for ʿAlī, I would not have created you; and if not for Fāṭimah, I would not have created you both; and if not for Ḥasan and Husain, I would not have created the three of you.”

This noble ḥadīth clearly states that Imam Husain (a.s.)) is also a secret behind the creation of the universe.

The meaning of this noble ḥadīth is that: The Noble Prophet (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa ālih) is the reason for the creation of the world,Amīr al-Muʾminīn (a.s.)) ensures the continuation of the Prophetic Sharīʿah,bLady Fāṭimah, Imam Ḥasan, and Imam Husain (peace be upon them all) ensure the continuation of Imamate.

This ḥadīth in no way implies superiority of Amīr al-Muʾminīn or Lady Zahrāʾ over the Noble Prophet of Islam.

The complete text of this ḥadīth was narrated to me directly from Āqā Amīnī, who had heard it without intermediary from ʿAllāmah Amīnī, and this strongly corresponds to the noble Ḥadīth al-Kisāʾ.
