99-/1627 — ‘Umar b. Yazid reported: I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) say: “Whoever seeks Allah’s forgiveness seventy times in the witr after the bowing, and persists in that for a year, is among those who ask forgiveness at dawn.”
99-/1628 — Al-Mufaddal b. ‘Umar reported: I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), “May I be your ransom, I miss the night prayer so I pray Fajr. May I pray after the Fajr prayer what I missed of prayer while I am in prayer before sunrise?” He said: “Yes, but do not inform your family lest they take it as a practice and thereby nullify the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘and those who ask forgiveness at dawn.’”
(Qur’an 3:18) — M. H. Shakir: Allah bears witness that there is no god but He; and (so do) the angels and those possessed of knowledge, maintaining His creation with justice; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.

Indeed it is upon them to ask us; and ‘those possessed of knowledge, standing with justice’—[that is] the Imam.” [1]

99-/1630 — Al-‘Ayyashi—from Jabir, who said: I asked Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) about this verse: “Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, and the angels and those possessed of knowledge, maintaining justice. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.” Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: “Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, for Allah, Blessed and Exalted, bears witness to it for Himself, and it is as He said. As for His saying ‘and the angels,’ He ennobled the angels for submitting to their Lord, and they affirmed and bore witness just as He bore witness for Himself. And as for His saying ‘and those possessed of knowledge, standing with justice,’ the possessors of knowledge are the prophets and the legatees; they stand with justice. And al-qist is justice in the outward, while the justice in the inward is the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him).”
