Taha Ayah 114
Qur’an 20:113 — M. H. Shakir: And thus have We sent it down an Arabic Quran, and We have explained therein in detail the threats that they may guard (against evil) or that it may produce a reminder for them.
7054-1: Ali ibn Ibrahim said: It means what will occur concerning the matter of al-Qa’im (peace be upon him) and the Sufyani.
Qur’an 20:114 — M. H. Shakir: Supremely exalted is Allah, the King, the Truth! And do not make haste with the Quran before its revelation is made complete to you, and say: O my Lord! increase me in knowledge.
7055-2: Ali ibn Ibrahim said: When the Qur’an was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family), he would hasten to recite it before the completion of the verse and its meaning. So Allah revealed: And do not make haste with the Quran before its revelation is made complete to you—that is, before the recitation of it is finished—and say: O my Lord! increase me in knowledge.
Qur’an 20:115 — M. H. Shakir: And certainly We gave a commandment to Adam before, but he forgot; and We did not find in him any determination.
99-/7056: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub, from several of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Ali ibn al-Hakam, from Mufaddal ibn Salih, from Jabir, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: And certainly We gave a commandment to Adam before, but he forgot; and We did not find in him any determination.
He said: “We made a covenant with him concerning Muhammad (may Allah bless him and his family) and the Imams (peace be upon them) after him, but he left it, and he did not have the resolve that it was so. And they were called the Possessors of Resolve (Ulū al-‘Azm) only because a covenant was made with them concerning Muhammad (may Allah bless him and his family), the legatees after him, and the Mahdi and his conduct; and their resolve was unanimous that this is indeed so, along with acknowledgment of it.”
