99-/1371 _22- And from him, he said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: “In that time, it was the king who led the armies, while the prophet set his affairs in order for him and informed him of the news from his Lord.”
99-/1372 _23- And from him, he said: It was said: “The sakīnah that was in it was a gentle breeze from Paradise, having a face like the face of a human.” From ‘Ali (peace be upon him).
And were it not for Allah’s repelling some people by means of others, the earth would certainly be in a state of disorder; but Allah is Gracious to the creatures. (M. H. Shakir)
99-/1373 _1- ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said: My father narrated to me, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from Jamil, who said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who pray from our Shia, harm from those of our Shia who do not pray; and if they were all to agree to abandon the prayer, they would perish. And indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who give zakat from our Shia, harm from those of our Shia who do not give zakat; and if they were all to agree to abandon zakat, they would perish. And indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who perform Hajj from our Shia, harm from those who do not perform Hajj; and if they were all to agree to abandon Hajj, they would perish; and this is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘And were it not for Allah’s repelling some people by means of others, the earth would certainly be in a state of disorder; but Allah is Gracious to the creatures.’”

And indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who give zakat from our Shia, harm from those who do not give it; and if they were all to agree to abandon zakat, they would perish. And indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who perform Hajj from our Shia, harm from those who do not perform it; and if they were all to agree to abandon Hajj, they would perish; and this is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘And were it not for Allah’s repelling some people by means of others, the earth would certainly be in a state of disorder; but Allah is Gracious to the creatures.’ By Allah, it was not revealed except about you, and He did not mean by it anyone other than you.”
99-/1375 _3- Al-‘Ayyāshī: from Yunus ibn Zabyān, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “Indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who pray from our Shia, harm from those of our Shia who do not pray; and if they were all to agree to abandon the prayer, they would perish. And indeed, Allah repels, by means of those among them who fast, harm from those of our Shia who do not—
—fast from our Shia; and if they were all to agree to abandon the fast, they would perish. And indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who give zakat from our Shia, harm from those who do not give it; and if they were all to agree to abandon zakat, they would perish. And indeed, Allah repels, by means of those who perform Hajj from our Shia, harm from those among them who do not perform it; and if they were all to agree to abandon Hajj, they would perish; and this is the saying of Allah, Most High: ‘And were it not for Allah’s repelling some people by means of others, the earth would certainly be in a state of disorder; but Allah is Gracious to the creatures.’ By Allah, it was not revealed except about you, and He did not mean by it anyone other than you.”
99-/1376 _4- Al-Zamakhsharī in (Rabī‘ al-Abrār): from Ibn ‘Umar, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) say: “Indeed, Allah repels affliction from about one hundred thousand households of a man’s neighbors by means of the righteous Muslim,” then he recited: “And were it not for Allah’s repelling some people...” the verse.
These apostles, We have made some of them to excel others; among them are they to whom Allah spoke, and some of them He exalted by degrees; and We gave clear arguments to Isa the son of Maryam, and strengthened him with the holy spirit; and if Allah had pleased, those after them would not have fought one with another after clear arguments had come to them, but they disagreed; so there were some of them who believed and others who denied; and if Allah had pleased they would not have fought one with another, but Allah does what He pleases.
99-/1377 _1- Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub: from a number of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, from his father, raising (the chain), from Muhammad ibn Dawud al-Ghanawī, from al-Asbagh ibn Nubātah, who said: A man came to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) and said: “O Commander of the Faithful, some people claim that a servant does not commit fornication while he is a believer, nor steal while he is a believer, nor drink wine while he is a believer, nor consume usury while he is a believer, nor shed unlawful blood while he is a believer. This has weighed heavily upon me, and it constricted my chest when I suppose that a servant prays my prayer, and supplicates my supplication, and inter-marries with me and I with him, and inherits from me and I inherit from him, yet he has left faith on account of a small sin he committed.”
So the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: “You have spoken the truth. I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) say it, and the proof of it is in the Book of Allah, Majestic and Mighty: Allah created people upon three ranks, and He placed them in three stations; and that is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! And the foremost are the foremost’ [al-Waqi‘ah 56:8–10]. As for what He mentioned concerning the foremost, they are prophets—sent and unsent. Allah placed within them five spirits: the Holy Spirit (ruh al-qudus), the spirit of faith, the spirit of power, the spirit of desire, and the spirit of the body. By the Holy Spirit they were sent as prophets—sent and unsent—and by it they knew things; by the spirit of faith they worshiped Allah and did not associate anything with Him; by the spirit of power they strove against His enemy and managed their livelihoods; by the spirit of desire they enjoyed delicious food and married the lawful among the youthful women; and by the spirit of the body they moved and walked upon the earth. These are those forgiven, and their sins are overlooked.”
