The thirst of Imam Husain (a.s.) affected four parts of his blessed body.
The thirst of Imam Husain (a.s.) affected four parts of his blessed body.
The second reason is that the thirst of that noble Master had completely affected four of his limbs:
First: His blessed lips, which had become dry and withered.
Second: His torn and burning liver, such that near the end, after all hope of survival had vanished, he said:
“Give me a drop of water, for my liver has been torn apart by thirst.”
Third: His tongue, which had become wounded because he repeatedly rubbed it against the sides of his mouth. [398]
Fourth: His blessed eyes, which had become dim from thirst.
As is narrated in the tradition concerning the conversation of Jibra'il (a.s.) with Adam (a.s.), he said:
“If you were to see him, O Adam, in the state in which he cries out:
‘Oh, my thirst!’
to such an extent that thirst had come between him and the sky like a veil of smoke.” [399]
Thus, because of each one of these four limbs, Allah granted him a special kind of water.
And now that the discussion has reached this point, O Shi‘ah, do not be miserly with the tears of your eyes.
