Yunus Ayah 1-2

يونس 10:1-2

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ. الر تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْحَكِيمِ. أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ أَنْذِرِ النَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ قَالَ الْكَافِرُونَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ مُبِينٌ

Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the wise Book. What! is it a wonder to the people that We revealed to a man from among themselves, saying, Warn the people and give good news to those who believe that they have a footing of firmness with their Lord? The unbelievers say: Surely this is a manifest enchanter. (M. H. Shakir)

ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ الزَّنْجَانِيُّ، فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ عَلَى يَدَيْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الْبَغْدَادِيِّ الْوَرَّاقِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَسْمَاءَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جُوَيْرِيَةُ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الثَّوْرِيِّ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِجَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ (عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ): يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، مَا مَعْنَى الر؟ قَالَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ): «مَعْنَاهُ أَنَا اللَّهُ الرَّءُوفُ».

99-/4830) Ibn Bābawayh said: Abu al-Hasan Muhammad b. Harun al-Zanjani informed us—in what he wrote to me through Ali b. Ahmad al-Baghdadi the bookseller—he said: Mu‘adh b. al-Muthanna al-‘Anbari narrated to us, he said: ‘Abdullah b. Asma’ narrated to us, he said: Juwayriyah narrated to us, from Sufyan b. Sa‘id al-Thawri, who said: I said to Ja‘far b. Muhammad b. ‘Ali b. al-Husayn b. ‘Ali b. Abi Talib (peace be upon them): O son of the Messenger of Allah, what is the meaning of “Alif Ra” (الر)? He (peace be upon him) said: “Its meaning is: I am Allah, the Most Kind.”

99-/4831

علي بن إبراهيم، قال: الر هو حرف من حروف الاسم الأعظم المقطع في القرآن، فإذا ألفه الرسول أو الإمام فدعا به أجيب. ثم قال: أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ يعني رسول اللّه (صلّى اللّه عليه و آله): أَنْ أَنْذِرِ النّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ.

99-/4831) ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said: “Alif Ra (الر) is a letter from the segmented letters of the Greatest Name in the Qur’an; when the Messenger or the Imam composes it and supplicates by it, he is answered.” Then he said regarding “What! is it a wonder to the people that We revealed to a man from among them,” meaning the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family): “Warn the people and give good news to those who believe that they have a footing of truth with their Lord.”

العيّاشيّ: عن يونس، عمّن ذكره، في قول اللّه وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إلى آخر الآية. قال: «الولاية».

99-/4832) Al-‘Ayyashi: from Yunus, from one who mentioned it, regarding Allah’s saying, “and give good news to those who believe,” to the end of the verse. He said: “It is the wilayah (divinely mandated authority).”

99-/4833

عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ، قَالَ: «الْوِلايَةُ».

99-/4833) From Yunus b. ‘Abd al-Rahman, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding His saying: “and give good news to those who believe that they have a footing of truth with their Lord,” he said: “It is the wilayah.”

99-/4834

عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ، قَالَ: «هُوَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)».

99-/4834) From Ibrahim b. ‘Umar, from one who mentioned him, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding the Most High’s saying: “and give good news to those who believe that they have a footing of truth with their Lord,” he said: “It is the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family).”

99-/4835

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْيَمَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ، قَالَ: «هُوَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)».

99-/4835) ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said: My father narrated to me, from Hammad b. ‘Isa, from Ibrahim b. ‘Umar al-Yamani, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding Allah, Blessed and Exalted, saying: “a footing of truth with their Lord,” he said: “It is the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family).”

99-/4836

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ: عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْيَمَانِيِّ، عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ، قَالَ: «هُوَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)».

99-/4836) Muhammad b. Ya‘qub: from ‘Ali b. Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad b. ‘Isa, from Ibrahim b. ‘Umar al-Yamani, from one who mentioned him, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding Allah, Blessed and Exalted, saying: “and give good news to those who believe that they have a footing of truth with their Lord,” he said: “It is the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family).”

99-/4837

وَعَنْهُ: عَنِ الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُمْهُورٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ رَفَعَهُ، إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)، فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ. قَالَ: «وِلايَةُ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ)».

99-/4837) And from him: from al-Husayn b. Muhammad, from Mu‘alla b. Muhammad, from Muhammad b. Jumhur, from Yunus, who said: One who raised it to Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) informed me, regarding the Most High’s saying: “and give good news to those who believe that they have a footing of truth with their Lord.” He said: “It is the wilayah of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him).”

99-/4838

الطَّبْرِسِيُّ: قِيلَ: إِنَّ مَعْنَى قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ شَفَاعَةُ مُحَمَّدٍ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ) لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ. قَالَ: وَهُوَ الْمَرْوِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ).

99-/4838) Al-Tabrisi: It is said that the meaning of “a footing of truth” is the intercession of Muhammad (may Allah bless him and his family) for them on the Day of Resurrection. He said: and this is narrated from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him).

يونس 10:3

إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللّٰهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ يُدَبِّرُ الْأَمْرَ ۖ مَا مِنْ شَفِيعٍ إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ إِذْنِهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ اللّٰهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Surely your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, and He is firm in power; He regulates the affair; there is no intercessor except after His permission; this is Allah, your Lord, therefore serve Him; will you not then mind? (M. H. Shakir)

99-/4839

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ: عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ) يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْخَيْرَ يَوْمَ الْأَحَدِ، وَمَا كَانَ لِيَخْلُقَ الشَّرَّ قَبْلَ الْخَيْرِ، وَفِي يَوْمِ الْأَحَدِ وَالْإِثْنَيْنِ خَلَقَ الْأَرَضِينَ، وَخَلَقَ أَقْوَاتَهَا فِي يَوْمِ الثُّلاَثَاءِ، وَخَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ يَوْمَ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ وَيَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ، وَخَلَقَ أَقْوَاتَهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ».

99-/4839) Muhammad b. Ya‘qub: from Muhammad b. Yahya, from Ahmad b. Muhammad, from Ibn Mahbub, from ‘Abdullah b. Sinan, who said: I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) say: “Indeed Allah created good on Sunday—and He would not create evil before good—and on Sunday and Monday He created the earths; He created their provisions on Tuesday; He created the heavens on Wednesday and Thursday; and He created their provisions on Friday. That is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘He created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days.’” (Qur’an references: 25:59; 32:4)
