132. The Ḥā’ir of Imām Husain (a.s.) has several special features:

(1) A traveler (musāfir) is given the choice to pray either full (tamām) or shortened (qaṣr) prayers in the Ḥā’ir of Imām Husain (a.s.).

Shaykh al-Mufīd (may Allah sanctify his soul) says: The default for a traveler’s prayer is qaṣr (shortened), but based on sound narrations, in four locations a traveler can pray full (tamām). In these places, praying qaṣr is permissible but praying full is more virtuous.¹

These four places are: Masjid al-Ḥarām, Masjid al-Nabī, Masjid Kūfa, and the shrine of Imām Husain (a.s.).²

(2) The soil taken from that place is an elixir of healing, it tears through the seven veils, causes prayers to be accepted, grants protection from all fear and safety from the punishment of the grave and the Barzakh realm.

The sacred healing soil (ṭurbat al-shifā’) is taken from around the sacred shrine up to a distance of seventy cubits.³

(3) Supplication under the dome is answered—it is the compensation granted for the martyrdom of that noble Imām.⁴

O Allah! This is Your religion, and it has awoken in mourning due to the absence of Your Walī. So send blessings upon Muḥammad and the family of Muḥammad, and hasten the reappearance of Your Walī, as a mercy upon Your religion.

O Allah! This is Your book, and it has awoken in mourning due to the absence of Your Walī. So send blessings upon Muḥammad and the family of Muḥammad, and hasten the reappearance of Your Walī, as a mercy upon Your book.

O Allah! These are the eyes of the believers that have awoken in mourning due to the absence of Your Walī. So send blessings upon Muḥammad and the family of Muḥammad, and hasten the reappearance of Your Walī, as a mercy upon the believers.¹
