Looking at the Kaʿbah is a cause of forgiveness, and looking at al-Imam Husain (a.s.) is among the greatest acts of worship

Twenty-eighth: Looking at the Kaʿbah, for those who recognize the rights of the Imams of Guidance (a.s.), is a cause of forgiveness and brings relief from the worries of this world and the Hereafter. [1197]

Likewise, looking toward al-Imam Husain (a.s.) is among the greatest acts of worship.

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) would deliberately look toward him.

Sometimes, when he became hungry, he would say:

“I shall go and look at al-Hasan (a.s.) and al-Imam Husain (a.s.) so that my hunger may depart.” [1198]

Amir al-Muʾminin ʿAli (a.s.) would also intentionally look at that noble Imam (a.s.), but merely looking at him

would cause overwhelming grief and tears to overcome him. [1199]

Looking toward the grave of that noble Imam (a.s.) is also an act of worship, and its effect is to bring tenderness of heart and sorrow upon the one who looks at it.

Especially if he looks toward the grave of his son ʿAli (a.s.), who is buried near the feet of his father, he will certainly become saddened, as all of this has been narrated. [1200]

Twenty-ninth: It is narrated concerning the Hajj that every dirham spent in its path is counted as one thousand dirhams.

Ibn Sinan asked Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.):

“A dirham spent in the path of Hajj is counted as one thousand dirhams. Then how much is a dirham spent in the path of visiting your father al-Imam Husain (a.s.) worth?”

The Imam (a.s.) replied:

“Each dirham is counted as one million dirhams.”

Then he repeated the word “thousand” ten times.

“And for him are raised degrees equal to that number, and the pleasure of Allah is better for him than all of that.” [1201]

Thirtieth: Allah created Makkah and made it His sanctuary (haram) before the spreading out of the earth (dahw al-arz).

However, it is narrated from ʿAli ibn al-Imam Husain (a.s.) that Allah made the land of Karbala a secure and blessed sanctuary before He created the Kaʿbah and made it a sanctuary, by twenty-four thousand years.

And when the earthquake of the Day of Resurrection occurs, this land, together with its pure and radiant soil, will be raised up and placed in the finest regions of Paradise.

None shall dwell therein except the Prophets (al-nabiyyin) and the Messengers (al-mursaleen),

or, according to another wording, except the Prophets of Firm Resolve (ulul al-azm).

That land will shine among the gardens of Paradise like a brilliant star among the stars, whose light dazzles the eyes.

And that land will call out:

“I am the holy and purified land that carried within me the Master of Martyrs and the Master of the Youth of Paradise.” [1202]
