The Gatherings of Mourning for Imam Husain (a.s.) Possess Fourteen Qualities
مجالس عزاداري حسين چهارده صفت دارد
و چنين مجلسي داراست صفات مشاهد شريفه را، و آن چهارده صفت است:اول: آنكه مصلاي خداوند است، يعني «محل صلوات اوست بر اهلش»دوم: آنكه ملائكه در آنجا حاضر ميشوند.سوم: آنكه شخص به دعاي پيغمبر خدا و ائمهي هدي فائز شود.چهارم: آنكه منظور نظر بهجت اثر جناب سيدالشهداء گردد.پنجم: آنكه آنحضرت با ايشان مخاطبه ومكالمه نمايد.ششم: چنين مجلسي محبوب جناب صادق (عليهالسلام) است.هفتم: مانند عرفات است.هشتم: مانند مشعرالحرام است.نهم: مانند حطيم است.دهم: مطاف بيتالله است.يازدهم: قبهي حسين است.دوازدهم: خاموش كنندهي آتشها است.سيزدهم: منبع آب حيات است.چهاردهم: تالي مجالسي ميشود كه ابتداي آن خلقت و آخر آن حشر است، و تفصيل اين مطالب (انشاء الله) بيايد.و چون اين امر را تصور نمائي، پس چگونه گمان ميكني كه نااميد شوي، از اين همه مشاهد، با اين حالات شريفه، و عبادات لطيفه، و اجتماع صفات و تواتر بركات؟ پس [ صفحه 86] اگر موانع مانع باشد به آن، قليل اثري خواهد ماند، و همان مرا كافي است:قليل منك يكفيني و لكن قليلك لا يقال له قليل ترجمه: كمترين عنايت تو مرا بس است، ولي كمترين عنايت ترا نتوان «كم» نام نهاد.]و چون اين مطلب مرا يقين گرديد، مخاطبه با نفس را كوتاه نمودم، و به اميدواري بسيار، دست توسل به دامان حسين (عليهالسلام) زدم، و به جهت استحكام آن شروع در تأليف اين كتاب نمودم، كه مشتمل است بر بيان خصائص آنجناب، كه به آن خصائص، ممتاز است از تمام مخلوقات، حتي از انبياء و ائمهي (عليهمالسلام)، و ناميدم آنرا خصائص الحسين (عليهالسلام) و مزايا المظلوم، اميد از فضل پروردگار آنكه، آنرا ذخيرهي قبر و نشور، و مايهي امن و سرور، و اسباب بقاي ذكر موفور قرار دهد، و ما توفيقي الا بالله، عليه توكلت و اليه انيب.
The Gatherings of Mourning for Imam Husain (a.s.) Possess Fourteen Qualities
And such a gathering possesses the qualities of the sacred shrines (mashāhid sharīfah), and these are fourteen qualities:
First: It is a place of prayer for Allah, meaning:
“It is a place upon whose people Allah sends His blessings.”
Second: The angels are present therein.
Third: A person attains the supplication of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) and the Imams of Guidance (a.s.).
Fourth: He becomes the object of the gracious gaze of Sayyid al-Shuhadā’ (a.s.).
Fifth: That noble Imam (a.s.) converses and speaks with them.
Sixth: Such a gathering is beloved to Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.).
Seventh: It is like ʿArafāt.
Eighth: It is like al-Mashʿar al-Ḥarām.
Ninth: It is like al-Ḥaṭīm.
Tenth: It is the place of circumambulation (maṭāf) of the House of Allah.
Eleventh: It is the dome (qubbah) of Imam Husain (a.s.).
Twelfth: It extinguishes the fires.
Thirteenth: It is a fountain of the Water of Life.
Fourteenth: It follows after those gatherings whose beginning was at the creation and whose end will be at the Resurrection.
The details of these matters will, Allah willing, be mentioned later.
When you reflect upon this matter, how can you imagine that you should despair despite all these sacred shrines, these noble states, these subtle acts of worship, this gathering of virtues, and this succession of blessings?
Therefore,

even if obstacles should hinder their full effect, some small portion of their effect will remain, and that alone is sufficient for me:
«قليل منك يكفيني و لكن قليلك لا يقال له قليل»
“Even the smallest favor from you is sufficient for me, but the smallest favor from you can never be called small.”
When this matter became certain to me, I shortened my discourse with my soul and, with abundant hope, grasped the hem of the garment of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) through tawassul.
And in order to strengthen that hope, I began the composition of this book, which contains an exposition of the unique characteristics (khaṣā’iṣ) of that noble one (a.s.), by which he is distinguished from all created beings, even from the Prophets and the Imams (a.s.).
I named it:
«خصائص الحسين (عليهالسلام) و مزايا المظلوم»
“The Unique Characteristics of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) and the Distinctions of the Oppressed One.”
My hope from the grace of the Lord is that He will make it a provision for the grave and the resurrection, a means of security and joy, and a cause for the preservation of a blessed remembrance.
«و ما توفيقي الا بالله، عليه توكلت و اليه انيب»
“And my success is only through Allah. Upon Him I rely, and unto Him I turn in repentance.” (Surah Hud 11:88)
