S 54 Ayat 3 to 8
54:3 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 54:4 And certainly narratives have come to them wherein is prevention— 54:5 Consummate wisdom—but warnings do not avail; 54:6 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 54:7 Their eyes cast down, they shall go forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 54:8 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day.
99-/10268 ʿAlī ibn Ibrāhīm: Regarding His saying: "And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires"—that is, they used to act based on their own opinion and deny their prophets. "And certainly narratives have come to them wherein is prevention"—meaning, admonition. And regarding His saying: "So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task", he said: The Imām [when he reappears] will call them to what they reject. His saying: "Their eyes cast down, they shall go forth from their graves"—when he returns, he says: “Return!” The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day.
99-/10269 Muḥammad ibn Yaʿqūb: From a group of our companions, from Sahl ibn Ziyād, from al-Ḥasan ibn Maḥbūb, from ʿAlī ibn Riʾāb, from Abū ʿUbaydah al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, from Thuwair ibn Abī Fākhitah, who said: I heard ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn (peace be upon him) speaking in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), and he said: “My father told me that he heard his father ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (peace be upon him) addressing the people…”
99-/10269 He said: “When it is the Day of Resurrection, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, will raise the people from their graves uncircumcised, barefoot, naked, and without beards, on one flat ground. Light will drive them forward, and darkness will gather them, until they stand at the slope of the place of gathering (ʿAqabat al-Maḥshar). There, they will mount upon each other, crowding before it, unable to proceed further. Their breaths will become intense, their sweat will increase, their circumstances will become constrained, their noise will grow loud, and their voices will rise. And this will be the first terror from the terrors of the Day of Resurrection.”
99-/10269 He said: Then the Almighty, Blessed and Exalted, will appear over them from above His Throne [in shades of the angels, and He will command an angel from among the angels, and he will call out among them]: “O assembly of creatures! Be silent and listen to the caller of the Almighty!” He said: The last of them will hear just as the first of them hears. He said: Then their voices will be subdued, their eyes will be humbled, their limbs will tremble, their hearts will be struck with fear, and they will raise their heads toward the direction of the voice, hastening in fear toward the one who is calling. He said: At that point, the disbelievers will say, “This is a difficult day.” (Qur'an 54:8)
And the narration is long. We have mentioned it in full at the end of Surah al-Zumar [1].
