The light of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) is greater than the light of the Kaʿbah

The light of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) is greater than the light of the Kaʿbah

The author says:

If the Kaʿbah was luminous and its light has now disappeared, then indeed al-Imam Husain (a.s.) was luminous, and his face and forehead shone radiantly.

He remained in that state until the time of his martyrdom.

As Hilal ibn Nafiʿ says:

“I was in the army of ʿUmar ibn Saʿd when suddenly a man cried out:

‘Glad tidings to you, O commander! Shimr has killed al-Imam Husain (a.s.)!’

I then went between the two lines and saw that the Imam (a.s.) was in the throes of death.

By Allah, I have never seen anyone slain and covered in blood who was as radiant as he was.

The light of his noble face occupied me so completely that it distracted me from thinking about his being killed.

At that time he was asking for water.” [1178]

And if the light of the Kaʿbah came from the light of a ruby whose radiance extended to the boundaries of the sanctuary, then indeed the whole plain of Karbala was illuminated by the light of the Divine manifestation which descended upon the blessed tree.

For Karbala is the very al-waadi al-ayman (the Blessed Valley) and the al-baq'ah al-mubarakah (Blessed Spot) in which Musa (a.s.) witnessed the Divine Light.

And that light reached the horizons of the heavens and the regions of the world.

Likewise, the body of that noble Imam (a.s.) shone after his martyrdom like the sun, as has been mentioned in a narration. [1179]

Twenty-third: Makkah is umm al-quraa (the Mother of Cities), and al-Imam Husain (a.s.) is the father of the noble Imams (abu al-aimmah al-nojabaa).

Allah granted him this virtue as an honor in return for his martyrdom, as has been mentioned in the narrations. [1180]

Twenty-fourth: The Kaʿbah is the master of houses, and al-Imam Husain (a.s.) is the master of the youth of Paradise.

And all the inhabitants of Paradise are young.

This narration has been transmitted through mutawatir chains among both the Shiʿah and the Sunnis.

Even ʿUmar ibn al-Khattab narrated it from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.). [1181]

Twenty-fifth: Although Makkah is a barren valley, all kinds of fruits and provisions are brought to it from every direction through the supplication of Ibrahim (a.s.).

Likewise, for al-Imam Husain (a.s.), fruits of Paradise are brought, as has been reported in numerous narrations.

Among them is a narration recorded in Bihar al-Anwar from Ibn Shadhan, from Dhadhan, from Salman, who said:

“I came into the presence of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) and offered greetings.

When I came to Lady Fatimah (a.s.), she said:

‘O Salman, al-Hasan (a.s.) and al-Imam Husain (a.s.) are crying because of intense hunger. Take them by the hand and bring them to their grandfather.’

So I took them by the hand and brought them to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.).

He said:

‘What is the matter with you, O my two Hasans?’

They replied:

‘We are hungry and desire food.’

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) supplicated:

‘O Allah, feed them.’

And he repeated this three times.

Then I saw a single quince (به) appear in the hand of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.).

It was as large as one of the large jars made in the city of Hajar, and whiter than snow.

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) split it into two halves with his thumb and gave one half to al-Hasan (a.s.) and the other half to al-Imam Husain (a.s.).

I looked at it and desired to eat from it.

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said:

‘O Salman, perhaps you wish to eat from it?’

I replied:

‘Yes.’

He said:

‘This is food from Paradise, and no one shall eat from it until after the completion of the Reckoning.’” [1182]

Among these narrations is also the hadith concerning fresh dates (ratb).

Al-Imam Husain (a.s.) desired them, whereupon a tray of crystal appeared containing dates from Paradise, covered with a cloth of green sondos (fine silk).

This hadith is very lengthy and is mentioned in Bihar al-Anwar and Jalaʾ al-ʿUyun. [1183]
