Taha Ayah 54
99-/— English: Allah, Mighty and Majestic, would accept his faith, and He said: What! now! and indeed you disobeyed before and you were of the mischief-makers. But this day We save you in your body that you may be a sign to those after you [1]. That is, We will cast you upon a height [2] of the land, so that you may be a sign and a lesson for those after you.

99-/7014 — English: Muhammad b. Ya‘qub, from Muhammad b. Yahya, from Ahmad b. Muhammad, from ‘Ali b. al-Hakam, from Sayf b. ‘Umayrah, from Ibrahim b. Maymun, from Muhammad b. Muslim, said: I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) about the word of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: “He gave to everything its creation, then guided it.” He said: “There is nothing among Allah’s creation except that, from its form, the male is distinguished from the female.” I said: What is the meaning of “then guided it”? He said: “He guided it, by its form, to marriage and to fornication.”

Qur’an 20:54 — Eat and pasture your cattle; most surely there are signs in this for those endowed with understanding. (M. H. Shakir)
99-/7015 — English: ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said: My father narrated to me, from al-Hasan b. Mahbub, from ‘Ali b. Ri’ab, from Marwan, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him). He said: I asked him about the word of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: “Most surely there are signs in this for those endowed with understanding.” He said: “By Allah, we are the possessors of understanding (ulu al-nuha).” I said: May I be your ransom, what is the meaning of “ulu al-nuha”? He said: “It is what Allah informed His Messenger (Allah bless him and his family) would occur after him—of Abu-So-and-so’s claiming the caliphate and assuming it, and another after him, and the third after the two of them, and the Banu Umayyah. So the Messenger of Allah informed (of this), and it was just as Allah had informed His Prophet (Allah bless him and his family), and as the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) informed ‘Ali (peace be upon him),
99-/7015 — English: and as it has reached us from ‘Ali (peace be upon him) regarding what would occur after him of dominion among the Banu Umayyah and others. So this is the verse which Allah, Exalted, mentioned in the Book: “Most surely there are signs in this for those endowed with understanding”—the knowledge of all of which has reached us. Thus we were patient with the command of Allah. We are Allah’s stewards over His creation, and His treasurers over His religion—we safeguard it, conceal it, and hide it from our enemy—just as the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) concealed (matters) until Allah permitted him to migrate and to struggle against the polytheists. We are upon the course of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) until Allah permits us to manifest His religion by the sword and we call the people to it; then we shall strike them [1] for it again, just as the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) struck them [2] at the beginning.”
