Al-Anbiya Ayah 16-18

99-/ [Qur’an 21:12-15] And indeed the “town” is meant in the sense of its people, as He says, “And after them We brought forth another generation.” Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: “So when they felt Our punishment, lo! they began to fly from it” — meaning, they fled. He said: “Do not fly (now), and come back to what you were made to lead easy lives in and to your dwellings, haply you will be questioned.” Then, when the punishment came upon them, they said: “O woe to us! surely we were unjust.” “And this ceased not to be their cry till We made them as reaped corn, extinct.” By Allah, this is an admonition and a warning for you, if you would take admonition and be fearful. (M. H. Shakir, Qur’an 21:12-15)

99-/ [Qur’an 21:46-47] Then the discourse from Allah in the Book turns to the people of disobedience and sins, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: “And if a blast of the chastisement of your Lord were to touch them, they would certainly say: O woe to us! surely we were unjust.” If you say, O people, that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, only meant the people of shirk by this, then how so, when He says: “And We will set up a just balance for the day of resurrection, so no soul shall be dealt with unjustly in the least; and if there be the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We will bring it, and sufficient are We for reckoners.” Know, servants of Allah, that for the people of shirk the scales will not be set up, nor will the records be spread out for them; rather, they will be gathered to Hell in companies. The setting up of the scales and the spreading out of the records is for the people of Islam. So be mindful of Allah, servants of Allah. (M. H. Shakir, Qur’an 21:46-47)

99-/ [Qur’an 21:16-18] His saying, the Exalted: “And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them for sport … Nay! We hurl the truth against falsehood, so that it breaks its head, and lo! it vanishes; and woe to you for what you describe.” (M. H. Shakir, Qur’an 21:16-18)

99-/7112 _1- Muhammad b. Ya‘qub: from Muhammad b. Yahya, from Ahmad b. Muhammad, from Ibn Faddal, from Yunus b. Ya‘qub, from ‘Abd al-A‘la, who said: I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) about singing, and I said: They claim that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his Family) permitted saying: “We have come to you, we have come to you; greet us, greet us, we greet you.” He said: “They have lied. Indeed Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: ‘And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them for sport. Had We wished to make a diversion, We would have made it from before Ourselves; if We were to do (that). Nay! We hurl the truth against falsehood, so that it breaks its head, and lo! it vanishes; and woe to you for what you describe.’” Then he said: “Woe to so-and-so for what he describes” — a man who was not present in the session.

99-/7113 _2- Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid al-Barqi: from his father, from Yunus b. ‘Abd al-Rahman, marfu‘an, who said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: “There is no falsehood that stands face to face with the truth except that the truth overcomes the falsehood. That is the saying of the Exalted: ‘Nay! We hurl the truth against falsehood, so that it breaks its head, and lo! it vanishes.’”

And that is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in His Book: ‘Nay! We hurl the truth against falsehood, so that it breaks its head, and lo! it vanishes; and woe to you for what you describe.’”

I said: Yes. He said: He was asked about that, and he said: “There is no living being except that it sleeps, save Allah alone, Mighty and Majestic; and the angels do sleep.” I said: Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: “They glorify (Him) by night and day; they are never languid”? He said: “Their breaths are glorification.”
