Hūd (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.), the Possessors of a Special Reliance Upon Allah
Hūd (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.), the Possessors of a Special Reliance Upon Allah
Chapter of Hūd (a.s.):
Hūd (a.s.) possessed a special reliance upon Allah. He said to his people:
“Then all of you unite together and plot against me, and give me no respite. Indeed, I have placed my trust in Allah.” (Surah Hūd 11:55–56) [1387]
Likewise, Imam Husain (a.s.) spoke these very words before his enemies. [1388]
When Hūd (a.s.) spoke these words to his people, they did nothing to him except strike him with sticks and stones.
But Imam Husain (a.s.) was struck with every kind of weapon: swords, spears, clubs, arrows, stones, and sticks.
They seized Hūd (a.s.) by the throat and squeezed it until he nearly perished. [1389]
But as for Imam Husain (a.s.), they cut his throat, struck it with blows, crushed it, and slaughtered him.
Alas! [1390]
Chapter of Shuʿayb (a.s.):
Shuʿayb (a.s.) was the father of those two daughters whom Mūsā (a.s.) saw at the water of Madyan. They had some sheep with them, while the people were watering their own flocks, and the two women stood aside.
Mūsā (a.s.) said to them:
“Why do you not water your sheep?”
They replied:
“We do not have the strength to contend with the shepherds, so we wait until they finish, and our father is an elderly shaykh and cannot come himself.”
Then Mūsā (a.s.) felt compassion for them and watered their sheep. [1391]
And Imam Husain (a.s.) was the guardian of daughters, sisters, and young children.
Then he came to the water of the Euphrates and saw that all people and animals were drinking from it.
The Jews, the Christians, the dogs, and the swine were not prevented from it. [1392]
Only the family and children of that noble one (a.s.) were denied access to it.
Even after all others had finished, they remained deprived, although their father was the Noble Master and the most excellent of all the worlds.
