Translation:
99-/1099 _3- ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said: My father narrated to me, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from Mansur ibn Yunus, from ‘Amr ibn Abi Shaybah [1], from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him). He said—I heard him say of his own accord: “When Allah wills to make His creation manifest and gather them for that which must inevitably occur, He commands a herald to call out, and mankind and jinn assemble faster than the blink of an eye. Then He permits the lowest heaven, and it descends, and it is behind the people; then He permits the second heaven, and it descends, and it is twice the one next to it. When the people of the lowest heaven see it, they say: ‘Our Lord has come’ [2], yet He is coming—meaning His command—until every heaven descends, each one of them behind the other, and each is double the one that follows it. Then the command of Allah descends:
‘In the shadows of the clouds with the angels, and the matter is decided, and to Allah are returned all affairs.’”
And there is a continuation to the hadith, which will come—God Most High willing—regarding His saying: “The Great Terror will not grieve them” from Surah al-Anbiya’ [3].
Quranic reference within the hadith:
M. H. Shakir: Do they wait for aught but that Allah should come to them in the shadows of the clouds with the angels and the matter has been decided? And to Allah are (all) matters returned.

99-/1100 _4- Al-‘Ayyashi: From Jabir, who said: Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), regarding His saying, Most High: “In the shadows of the clouds with the angels, and the matter is decided,” said: “He descends in seven domes of light, and it is not known in which of them He is, when He descends at the rear of Kufa. This is the time when He descends.”

99-/1101 _5- From Abu Hamzah, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said: “O Abu Hamzah, it is as if I see the Qa’im of my Household having ascended your Najaf. When he ascends above your Najaf, he will unfurl [4] the banner of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family). When he unfurls it, the angels of Badr will descend upon him.” And Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: “He will descend in domes of light, when he descends at the rear of Kufa upon al-Faruq. This is the time when He descends. As for ‘the matter is decided,’ it is the branding upon the snout on the day the unbeliever is branded.”

He said: “Before Noah (peace be upon him) [the people] were a nation of misguidance; then it appeared to Allah (al-bada’) so He sent the messengers. And it is not as they say: that it has always been [2].
They have lied. Allah apportions every night what there will be of hardship, or ease, or rain, in the measure that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, wills to decree, until the like of it the following year.”
