Al-Kahf Ayah 25
And do not say of anything: Surely I will do it tomorrow, Unless Allah pleases; and remember your Lord when you forget and say: Maybe my Lord will guide me to a nearer course to the right than this. (M. H. Shakir)
It is the man who swears about a thing and forgets to make an exception, saying: “I will surely do such-and-such tomorrow or the day after,” with respect to His saying: “and remember your Lord when you forget.”
99-/6654 _16- From Hamzah b. Humrān, he said: I asked him about Allah’s saying: “And remember your Lord when you forget.” He said: If you swore an oath forgetfully, then later remembered, make the exception when you remember.
99-/6655 _17- From al-Qaddāḥ, from Ja‘far b. Muhammad, from his father, from ‘Alī (peace be upon them), who said: The exception in an oath applies whenever one remembers, even if after forty mornings. Then he recited this verse: “And remember your Lord when you forget.”
And they remained in their cave three hundred years and add nine. (M. H. Shakir)
99-/6656 _1- Al-‘Ayyāshī: From Jābir, who said: I heard Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him) say: By Allah, a man from us, the People of the House, will surely rule the earth after his death for three hundred years and add nine. He said: I asked, When will that be? He said: After the death of the Qā’im. I said: And how long will the Qā’im remain in his world until he dies? He said: Nineteen years, from the day of his rising to the day of his death. I said: Will there be turmoil after his death? He said: Yes, for fifty years. Then the Muntasir will come forth into the world and seek vengeance for his blood and the blood of his companions; he will kill and take captives until it is said: “If this were from the progeny of the prophets, he would not have killed people to this extent.” Then people, both their fair and dark, will gather against him and become many against him until they force him into Allah’s sanctuary. When the tribulation intensifies upon him, the Muntasir dies, and the Saffāḥ comes forth into the world in anger for the Muntasir. He will kill every tyrannical enemy of ours and rule the entire earth. Allah will set his affair aright, and he will live three hundred years and add nine. Then Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: O Jābir, do you know who the Muntasir and the Saffāḥ are? O Jābir, the Muntasir is al-Ḥusayn, and the Saffāḥ is the Commander of the Faithful (blessings of Allah be upon them both).
99-/6657 _2- Muhammad b. Ibrāhīm al-Nu‘mānī said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Sa‘īd b. ‘Uqdah informed us, saying: Muhammad b. al-Mufaḍḍal b. Ibrāhīm b. Qays b. Rummānah al-Ash‘arī, and Sa‘dān b. Isḥāq b. Sa‘īd, and Ahmad b. al-Ḥusayn b. ‘Abd al-Malik al-Zayyāt, and Muhammad b. Ahmad b. al-Ḥasan al-Qaṭwānī narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan b. Maḥbūb, from ‘Amr b. Thābit, from Jābir b. Yazīd al-Ju‘fī, who said: I heard Abū Ja‘far Muhammad b. ‘Alī (peace be upon them) say: By Allah, a man from us, the People of the House, will surely rule for three hundred years and add nine. I said to him: When will that be? He said: After the death of the Qā’im (peace be upon him). I said to him: And how long will the Qā’im (peace be upon him) remain in his world until he dies? He said: Nineteen years from the day of his rising to the day of his death.
And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening desiring His goodwill, and let not your eyes pass from them, desiring the beauties of this world's life; and do not follow him whose heart We have made unmindful of Our remembrance and he follows his low desires and his case is one in which due bounds are exceeded. (M. H. Shakir)
99-/6658 _1- Al-‘Ayyāshī: From Zurārah and Humrān, from Abū Ja‘far and Abū ‘Abd Allāh (peace be upon them), regarding His saying: “And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening,” he said: What is meant by it is the prayer.
/6659 _2- ‘Alī b. Ibrāhīm: This verse was revealed about Salmān al-Fārisī. He had a cloak in which was his food, and it was his inner and outer garment; it was a woolen cloak. ‘Uyaynah b. Ḥiṣn entered upon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) while Salmān was with him. ‘Uyaynah was bothered by the smell of Salmān’s cloak, for he had sweated in it, and that day was extremely hot, so he sweated in the cloak. He said: O Messenger of Allah, when we enter upon you, remove this man and his group from around you; when we leave, then admit whomever you wish. So Allah revealed: “And do not follow him whose heart We have made unmindful of Our remembrance,” and he was ‘Uyaynah b. Ḥiṣn b. Ḥudhayfah b. Badr al-Fazārī.
And say: The truth is from your Lord; so let him who please believe, and let him who please disbelieve. (M. H. Shakir) [partial as in source]
