The Visitation of Him is Equal to Thirty Accepted Pilgrimages
The Visitation of Him is Equal to Thirty Accepted Pilgrimages
Sixth Benefit: Through it, a person attains something that would ordinarily be impossible for him to attain, namely a pilgrimage together with the Messenger of Allah (sawa).
This has been mentioned in many narrations. Among them is the narration of Mūsā ibn Qāsim al-Ḥaḍramī, who said:
When Imam al-Ṣādiq (as) came to Najaf during the early period of Manṣūr’s caliphate, he said:
“O Mūsā, go to the main road and watch for a man coming from the direction of Qādisiyyah. Tell him that one of the descendants of the Messenger of Allah wishes to see him, and bring him to me.”
He said:
I went and stood by the roadside in intense heat and waited until I became tired and was nearly about to disobey the Imam and return. Suddenly, I saw someone appearing from a distance, as though he were a man riding a camel. When he came near, I delivered the message. He accepted and came with me.
When we arrived nearby, he made his camel kneel and came to the Imam. I remained at the tent entrance and could hear their conversation.
The Imam asked:
“Where have you come from?”
He replied:
“From the farthest regions of Yemen.”
The Imam asked:
“From such-and-such town?”
He replied:
“Yes.”
The Imam asked:
“What has brought you here?”
He replied:
“To visit Husain (a.s.).”
The Imam asked:
“Did you have any other need besides visiting him?”
He replied:
“No. I came only to visit him, pray near him, send salutations upon him, and then return to my family.”
The Imam asked:
“What benefits do you see in this visitation?”
He replied:
“I see blessings in my life, wealth, family, children, livelihood, and the fulfillment of my needs.”
The Imam said:
“Shall I tell you about the virtue of visiting him?”
He replied:
“Yes, O son of the Messenger of Allah.”
The Imam said:
“Indeed, the visitation of Husain (a.s.) is equal to one accepted pilgrimage with the Messenger of Allah.”
The man was astonished.
The Imam said:
“Yes, by Allah, rather it is equal to two accepted pilgrimages with the Messenger of Allah.”
Again the man expressed amazement.
The Imam continued increasing the number until he reached thirty accepted pilgrimages with the Seal of the Prophets. [815]
Seventh Benefit: Through it, a person attains something that is impossible in itself, namely that his pilgrimage becomes the very pilgrimage of the Messenger of Allah (sawa).
This meaning has been mentioned regarding the visitation, as was previously cited in the narration of ʿĀʾishah. [816]
