The Virtue of Surah Al-Ankabut

99-/8223 _1- ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ:بِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ،عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْعَنْكَبُوتِ وَ الرُّومِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ لَيْلَةَ ثَلاَثٍ وَ عِشْرِينَ فَهُوَ-وَ اللَّهِ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ-مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ،لاَ أَسْتَثْنِي فِيهِ أَبَداً،وَ لاَ أَخَافُ أَنْ يُكْتَبَ عَلَيَّ فِي يَمِينِي إِثْمٌ،وَ إِنَّ لِهَاتَيْنِ السُّورَتَيْنِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مَكَاناً».

99-/8223 _1- Ibn Bābawayh: With his chain of transmission from Abū Baṣīr, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him), who said: “Whoever recites Sūrat al-ʿAnkabūt and al-Rūm on the twenty-third night of the month of Ramadan, by Allah, O Abā Muḥammad, he is among the people of Paradise—I do not ever make an exception in this regard, nor do I fear that a sin will be recorded against me in my right hand—and indeed, these two sūrahs have a great status with Allah.”

/8224 _2-ومِنْ(خَوَاصِّ الْقُرْآنِ)رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)،أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ كَانَ لَهُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ بِعَدَدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ،وَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَ الْمُنَافِقَاتِ؛وَ مَنْ كَتَبَهَا وَ شَرِبَ مَاءَهَا زَالَتْ عَنْهُ جَمِيعُ الْأَسْقَامِ وَ الْأَمْرَاضِ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى».

/8224 _2- And among the (special merits of the Qur’an), it is narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) that he said: “Whoever recites this sūrah will have for him the reward of ten good deeds equal to the number of believing men and believing women, and hypocritical men and hypocritical women; and whoever writes it and drinks its water, all sicknesses and ailments will be removed from him by the permission of Allah, the Exalted.”

/8225 _3-وقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ): «مَنْ كَتَبَهَا وَ شَرِبَهَا زَالَ عَنْهُ كُلُّ

أَلَمٍ وَ مَرِضَ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى».

/8225 _3- The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: “Whoever writes it and drinks it, every pain and illness will be removed from him by the power of Allah, the Exalted.”

/8226 _4-وقَالَ الصَّادِقُ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ): «مَنْ كَتَبَهَا وَ شَرِبَهَا زَالَ عَنْهُ حُمَّى الرِّبْعِ [1] وَ الْبَرْدُ،وَ الْأَلَمُ،وَ لَمْ يَغْتَمَّ مِنْ وَجَعٍ أَبَداً إِلاَّ وَجَعُ الْمَوْتِ الَّذِي لاَ بُدَّ مِنْهُ،وَ يُكْثِرُ سُرُورَهُ مَا عَاشَ؛وَ شُرْبُ مَائِهَا يُفَرِّحُ الْقَلْبَ [2]،وَ يَشْرَحُ الصَّدْرَ، وَ مَاؤُهَا يُغْسَلُ بِهِ الْوَجْهُ لِلْحُمْرَةِ وَ الْحَرَارَةِ،وَ يُزِيلُ ذَلِكَ؛وَ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ وَ إِصْبَعُهُ فِي سُرَّتِهِ،يُدِيرُهُ حَوْلَهَا، فَإِنَّهُ يَنَامُ مِنْ أَوَّلِ اللَّيْلِ إِلَى آخِرِهِ،وَ لَمْ يَنْتَبِهْ إِلاَّ الصُّبْحَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى».

/8226 _4- Al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever writes it and drinks it, the quartan fever (ḥummā al-ribʿ) [1], coldness, and pain will be removed from him, and he will never suffer from any ailment except the inevitable pain of death. His joy will increase throughout his life; drinking its water gladdens the heart [2], opens the chest, and washing the face with its water removes redness and heat. And whoever recites it while lying on his bed, placing his finger in his navel and moving it around, he will sleep from the beginning of the night until its end and will not awaken except at dawn, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted.”

[1] Ḥummā al-rubʿ: It is the type of fever that affects the patient for one day, leaves him for two days, and then returns on the fourth day. (al-Muʿjam al-Wasīṭ – root: r-b-ʿ, 1:324). [2] In the source, there is an addition: “and it energizes the lazy.”
